“My lady...you do not look as if you’ve received enough sleep.”
He had paused in his cooking for the morning, to pause and look over Zero in a quiet sort of worriedness. Their party was growing, which was always nice - talking to a baby dragon and a prickly woman such as she didn’t give him much to work with in the topic of conversation.
That wasn’t to say the other disciples were much better - but it was something.
But it also meant their journey was growing all the more perilous, and Zero’s ongoing vengeance wasn’t cooling off any time soon. So Pate, in his way, hoped that making a hearty breakfast for the group could increase some spirits. Perhaps he’d gotten a little ahead of himself, though. As long as he’d been with Zero, he still wasn’t perfect at reading her. Was she cross with him? It would hardly be the first time, even if he didn’t understand why she held him with such ire at times - if always. Perhaps it wasn’t personal...after all, it wasn’t as if she wasn’t short and to the point with the other men.
“If you need more time to rest, I’ll keep the food warm,” he suggested softly, quiet enough so the others might not hear.
