"Well you've put up with me for this long," Rick said, the corner of his mouth quirking up into a grin. Sensing the seriousness with which she had asked her question, though, he turned his head to press a kiss into the palm of her hand. "Yes, honey. Maybe it took me a little while to really believe my luck, but you've never been very good at hiding your feelings for me."
He held out his torch to her, exchanging her for the crowbar she reluctantly let him bring along every time. "Just making sure you knew, before we go and bring this place down on our heads." He punctuated his sentence with a swing of his arms, cracking open the door that had been held closed by eons of disuse and the buildup of sand. "Ladies first." He indicated the darkened passageway that stretched out before them, letting her lead with the torch as he unholstered a pistol to have at the ready.
