I am not dead. A month ago I did say I would be off for a couple weeks to focus on translating, but I didn't do jack shit imma be honest.

I didn't expect my summer to be as busy as it has been, and I find it quite funny that I seem to work on these interps more during the school semester. My conjecture is that since I already have busywork online for classes, I can easily transition to translating things because I'm already on my computer.

I also applied for an online idol festival for shits and giggles a few months ago, to that I've which been accepted to. So now I have another responsibility on my hands moving forward. My deadline is in a week. Wish me luck.

This will be a relatively short diary entry, but I didn't want to leave this blog completely alone while I work on things outside of it. Thinking of y'all, always.

Today's recommendation is Gero on the MIC by Gero.

I found it imperative to recommend this song because this song plays almost every time I shuffle my playlist. It's a good song, what can I say? The animatic and editing is just so entertaining to watch, too.

Gero on the MIC was dropped like 2 months ago. Other than the obvious image of Gero being Gero doing Gero things, there's an underlying message of being yourself. It's self-centric, where Gero mentions that he won't stop and can't stop reaching for greater heights. There were ups and downs of his rise to fame and dealing with popularity, but he opts to move forward, and that struggle is part of the journey.

The songs comes off as braggy, but I give him a pass. Everyone deserves to brag once in a while. Gero loves being himself and no one can tell him different. Much like you should love being yourself, with no one telling you different.

Speaking of Gero he looks a little like Buzen Gou in both his avatar AND irl. It scares me. No reason.

I can’t believe I have 3 albums done already. That leaves two more. I’m having a hard time just fathoming how far I've come. I only need two albums left and my job would be done!

But, will it really be done?

I have so much to share revolving the PB TKRB world and translating songs may be the majority of it, but there are things that I have access to that I want to share with you all. It mostly has to do with the album inspiration, but I don't have any of the songs transcribed. I need more time compiling and organizing those things, but I promise I will get to them and not leave you hanging.

I'm debating taking a little break before staring the remainder of Battou Ryouran because I've been picking up extra shifts since the semester ended (passed all my exams with As btw, no flex) and may not have time to translate and analyze like I have been, but I really don't want to do that. I want to get things done because tearing these songs apart is also a selfish goal of mine. I want to know what's going on as much as the next person.

In reality, I might take a week or two to finish transcribing and translating Battou Ryouran.

I also spotted a mistake in the translation of the title Hyakka Kenran. I fixed it. It was so embarrassing... like no one told me and I just didn't notice until now. The "kenran" (絢爛) I originally used does mean "gorgeous," but I was staring at the album cover and the "ken" in "kenran" is KEN (剣) AS IN SWORD. "Ran" (爛) still remains a synonym to gorgeous, but I replaced it to "brilliant." Grave, grave oversight on my end.

With that said, today's recommendation is "Enjoy" by Meychan!

When I first heard this song come up on Youtube Music's random shuffle, I loved it. It's so happy and upbeat, plus I've always known Meychan as the guy who sounds like Yamatonokami. (In fact, he sang the Yamatonokami image song in Shikisoku Zekuu.) It's not just "Shiawase no Uta" it's many other songs, like "Recollection Endroll" or even "See you next attack." I even said this on Twitter:

Funny story, I was listening to this song in the car with my brother and he asked if it was a happy or sad song (alluding to the fact that we all know that songs like these can actually be about something morbid.) And, with confidence, I answered that it was a happy song. To which he promptly looks up a translation and informs me that it is in fact, a sad song.

I screamed. In the car. I was the one driving, mind you.

But later on, being the analysis freak I am, I broke down the lyrics. My brother mostly paid attention to the beginning of the song, where Meychan expresses that nothing feels the same as it used to be. His motivation had dissipated once he had gotten older and that the things that used to bring him joy doesn't have the same effect anymore. Which is a phenonmenon I can confidently say is something we all go through as we age.

Meychan later expresses that living for yourself is not selfish. Stop pretending to be someone you're not. And once you have learned to love yourself in that way, then you can help other people love themself in turn. It takes more energy to be ingenuine than genuine. Just Enjoy.

So yes, "Enjoy" starts out uncertain, but there's a message of growth and self-love behind it as the song progresses. I love this song to death and I adore the animation, too. Meychan is such a wonderful performer and I fell in love with him again after watching a few live performances of his (especially "Mikigata no Chou") on YouTube.

Thank you for sticking with me on this project. I really want to share what a lot of people don't know exist and don't have the resources to obtain. You may or may not have seen the debate whether pirating is moral or not. However, these albums are an extremely rare commodity outside Japan (well, you can argue that it's also rare in Japan due to limited release.) I'm not doing this for profit and I'm not doing this with ill intent. I just love PB-TKRB due to how much it meant to me when I was only 12. Access, access, access.

Souen Aika is done, and I couldn't feel more fulfilled.

I also started to sprinkle in the instrumentals because it felt strange to consider Souen Aika done yet never mention the instrumentals. So I sat myself down and wrote about my thoughts and opinions about them. To be fair there's only five and they're all really good and need some love, so why not?

And since there are only five, I'll upload the remaining instrumentals a little while after another translation is uploaded just as I did with Koko Issen and Sanjou no Yume wa Yoru ni Shizumu.

I want to express my gratitude to everyone who enjoys my translations and analyses.

Whether you are here for one song, keeping an eye out for specific characters, or even an album that you've been waiting for information for, it fills my heart with joy knowing that there's someone out there finding value what I have written.

It's similar to the joy I feel when I first started getting into Touken Ranbu again after a sad hiatus after the eventual shutdown of the English server. I was skimming through Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, and whatever I could find when I finally was conscious enough to know what I was doing and know what I was looking for in terms of characters in the game. It started with finding out more information about Yagen, then to Mikazuki. Then from Mikazuki to Ichigo to Tsurumaru. Just as I found value in the shitposts and character analyses from 5+ years ago, I want to be that person that someone stumbles across in their internet rabbit hole about a niche sword game 5+ years from now.

Take it as my contribution to the game we love so much.

In fact, I was the Worst Saniwa in the World due to the fact that yeah I played the game, but did I understand what I was doing? Hell no. Everything was in English and I still didn't know wtf I was supposed to do.

So it wasn't until everything was in Japanese did I finally lock in and try to understand now to game works, and honestly, it's fun getting used to it. It was also recently Yagen Day (4/9), but instead of posting or creating anything I had exams. But I did well on both of them so that’s a Yagen Day well spent.

Today's recommendation is Shura Bara, covered by Rib and Itou Kashitarou. They say songs under 3 minutes are usually bangers. Well, they're right.

Shura Bara literally means "Carnage Rose." Originally a song sung by flower and composed by Teniwoha, it's actually a character theme song from the game #Compass. Their name is Oniga-shiki. Stunning design, I would say. The song revolves around how the character is 1) a divine beauty, 2) a demon-slayer, and 3) freakishly cursed to the point of aura farming.

I don't play the game, but their array of characters is very extensive. No, I will not play it. I already have Touken Ranbu to keep up with. And I'm having such a fun time with the increased 8-1 drop rates and UTC. And Fortnite Thurdays with my friends. I also went to a convention this weekend and had so much fun. I was Fern from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Much money was spent ( I bought a prop katana that I plan to use for a Hacchou Nenbutstu derivative and I found abandoned TKRB merch in a dig bin, not to mention artist alley—), many photos were taken, and I had a grand time with my brother and our friends. My feet were also very hurty.

I have about one more month of this semester left so that means finals are very soon. Hopefully I can keep up with my upload schedule, but if not, don't worry about me. I'm not dead, just getting my ass beat. I can't wait to start dissecting Yushu no Toki like I did that pig heart and cow eyeball a couple weeks back. However, I've been wanting to get to the Yagen image song in Battou Ryouran for a while now. Mostly because I love him and I suppose we are both in the medical field.

We'll see how everything goes!

Hyakka Kenran is complete, and I would have Souen Aika almost complete if it weren't for midterms kicking my ass. I don't like skipping weeks or even entering a period of stagnation because I know how it's like to have a lack of content of a media you've been so passionate about. However, these few weeks haven't been for naught. I've been transcribing the lyricbooks for both Yushu no Toki and Battou Ryouran so that they're ready for me once I eventually do finish Souen Aika.

However, I was supposed to post Hanafubuki (Hotarumaru) instead of Izayoi Lionheart (Shishiou) this week, but once I saved the draft, Tumblr flagged it as "sensitive material" and I couldn't change the content label from "Mature" back to "For Everyone." I submitted an appeal the same day, and I still haven't heard back. Apparently it takes a long time for a human to review things manually.

I'm simply frustrated. I'll figure out a way to get Hanafubuki out and avaliable for anyone regardless of age. I refuse to have the mature content label on that post because 1) it doesn't even contain mature content, and 2) I want everyone to have access to what I make unless I know it has mature themes.

On another note, I passed my midterms and I would like to recommend one of the songs that kept me through those two weeks I was getting the whip cracked on me.

Reason Triangle by Quadrangle is the opening theme for Joker Game, the animation.

I've mentioned this media like once on blog because it's been taking over my brain like an amoeba you would get by swimming in still water. And I've only watched it like a month and a half ago. Having been released on April 5, 2016, it has almost been 10 years since this anime had taken storm. In 2016, I could have sworn I've heard of Joker Game, and even watched segments of the first episode. Like, even the title seemed reminiscent.

Joker Game is a historical fiction telling of a spies that worked under D-Agency, a spy agency sanctioned by the Imperial Army of Japan before the happenings of World War II. (I've loved learning about WWII since I was a child, so fork found in kitchen, I guess)

My obsession is to the point where I found and purchased the Joker Game light novels and the D no Mao manga that predates the animation itself. Keep in mind, these books are all untranslated. So I'm perpetually trapped into taking things into my own hands. Don't worry though, PB-TKRB comes first.

The character designer of the Joker Game animation characters is the one and only Miwa Shirow, who also designed Oodenta Mitsuyo and Sohayanotsurugi! (They have an image song together in inspiration!) I had a pleasant surprise when I learned this information. Everything leads back to Touken Ranbu.

And, inevitably, the VAs share characters, too.

Whenever I even hear Miyoshi speak, all I can think of is Hakusan's "命令を実行します," or "I shall carry out your orders."

Joker Game is also one of those medias where the era of stagnation has hit. Not a lot of art or fanfiction or fanworks in general are circulating about it today, but they did just have the third Joker Game stage play air in November 2025. A Blu-Ray is being released in April 2026, just in time for their 10 year anniversary!

However, I do appreciate @jgfiles for pulling everything together throughout the years and giving me a gold mine of content while I was catching up only this year.

It's not for everyone, but if you're looking for a short niche historical fiction anime, I cannot recommend Joker Game enough.

I ripped the title Disaster Diary from my favorite Itou Kashitarou song, Shura Nikki (修羅日記) lit. Diary of Carnage. It's one of the best songs I've ever heard in my entire life but it is (unfortunately) the opening to one of the worst anime I've ever tried watching. Of course that's my opinion, but if you present to me 13 minutes into the first goddamn episode, a cat girl getting molested by a mutated tree, you've lost me for good. What anime am I talking about? No Longer Allowed in Another World. But if you like harem isekai anime, feel free to watch it. Just don't tell me.
