Disable WordPress Comments for New Posts and Pages
This feature is very handy to enable or disable. It can change the default WP comment setting from enabled to disabled. To turn off WordPress comments by default, log on your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings –> Discussion –> Default Article Settings and deselect “Allow people to post comments on new articles”. After that, all new posts and pages published will not show a comment box below the article.
This change however only affects future articles, not other existing posts or pages. If you have a new WordPress website which has just been launched, then turning on this option will disable all WordPress comments.
You can also override this setting by enabling comments on certain future articles manually. You can always manually enable or disable WordPress comments for individual or bulk posts or articles.
Disable WordPress Comments for existing or old Posts and Pages
If you want to disable comments for current WordPress articles, you can utilize another option named ‘Automatically close comments on articles older than ** days’. Log on your WP admin panel, go to Settings –> Discussion –> Other comment settings, then input the number of days which you allow your WP articles to accept new comments. You can set it to a very small number to stopped accepting comments quickly for existing posts and pages.
WordPress comment is a very flexible comment system. It allows you great freedom to enable, disable and manage comments from your website visitors.
