Do you have an invisible disability? Are the primary caregiver for a dog?
Hello, my name is Emma and I am an honours student in the bachelor of science in psychology program at Mount Saint Vincent University in Canada. As part of my degree, I am currently conducting research exploring the relationships that people with invisible disabilities (e.g. Autism, POTS, PTSD, chronic illnesses, brain injury, etc.), have with their pet dogs.
Participants would complete an online survey with questions about themselves, their dog, and their relationship with their dog.
We are seeking adults (19+) who are:
-Residents of Canada
-dentify as having an invisible disability
-Are the primary caregiver for a dog
-Have completed some form of training with their dog (e.g., group classes, private training, online courses)
-Are able to complete the survey in English
We welcome participants with any invisible disability, especially autism, following recent research showing benefits of dog ownership in the lives of autistic people.
This research has been approved by the ethics board at Mount Saint Vincent University. More information about the study, along with the consent form and contact information for the ethics board can be found in the survey link below.
