DAY TWO [ for Kurt ].Ā remus/tonks fluff. like, super-fluff. fluff so sweet itās like cotton candy. grossly sweet. ew.Ā
Nymphadora Tonks was not someone to fade into the background, not one to move along with the crowd and do what societyĀ toldĀ her to do. No, Nymphadora Tonks was a rebel, one who went against the rules of society, the ones that others followed without thought. A little anarchist sat in her soul, a punker dominating every step she took.Ā
That was why she had decided not to wear a dress on her wedding day. She didnāt know why she should, as she never really did. Why make an exception on a day that was supposed to determine the rest of her life? Really, on such a day she should be herself more than ever, an above all, traditionalism had never been something she deemed important. Her motherās nose had wrinkled when she told her, but even Andromeda had not been surprised, and eventually smiled because her daughter had the freedom to do so. Her father, of course, had laughed and shaken his head, as always amused.
And so it was, that Nymphadora Tonks (or rather, just Tonks) got married in a pair of her favourite and least-ripped jeans, with bright pink hair and a enormous smile on her face. And that was all she needed, the simplicity of being herself, and the fact that she could be, that Remus Lupin would love her without a white dress and brown hair was more than she could ever wish for. She really was lucky. Ā
The warmth that streamed through her veins was electric, the way Remusā eyes looked at her as she walked up to him setting her on fire. There seemed to be nothing but him, butĀ them, even though there were other people in the small chapel they had chosen. An emotion so strong she was sure it would consume her had wrapped itself around her like a soft embrace, and it was only growing stronger as she came closer.
God, she felt like she was in one of those awfully sappy romantic movies she hated.
And as she stared at Remus, she only half-listened to the ceremony master talking, so taken up by the moment. It was not often that she was unable to find the right words to say, but right there, she was absolutely speechless. There were a billion thoughts swimming through her mind, all thoughts leading right back to the man in front of her, and still she was absolutely speechless, blown away by the perfection of that very moment.
But it wasnāt until Remus started to speak his vows, that tears welled up in her eyes. Hot and warm, they burned as her lips curled in a smile that was wider than any other smile she had ever smiled before.Ā
"Tonks," he started, he too, smiling like an idiot. "Oh, Tonks." A sigh, a very much happy one, spilled over his lips before he continued. "I donāt know where to start, or what to say. I never really know with you, but at the same time, I always do. What can I say? You confuse me, but make everything so clear. You make me want to be a better person, but at the same time make me feel like I am enough, that what I do is enough because you willĀ loveĀ me no matter what. Thereās so many things uncertain, so many things I have doubts about, that keep me awake at night, but the one thing I know and will know forever, is that I love you.
"I had never expected to be standing here, had never expected for you to stumble - and knock over some umbrella stand in the process - in my life and make me fall for you the way youāve fallen for me. You took me off balance, surprised me with your.. yourĀ everything, and Iām inclined to admit that this surprise has been the best one of my entire life. I love you, and always will.ā
He stopped, letting the silence linger on for a moment. āAnd you look absolutely beautiful. You always do, but with that smile on your face and those tears in your eyes, youāre looking more beautiful than youāve ever looked before.ā
And then it was her turn, but she still seemed to swing from the impact of his words, from the honest and truthfulness they had carried. Overwhelmed, she nodded, finger running underneath her eyes to catch the tears that were about to fall.
She had to clear her throat before speaking, a small laugh bubbling from her lips, simply because she was soĀ happy.Ā
"Iām afraid I donāt know here to start, either," she said, voice still remotely hoarse. "Thereās an unlimited amount of words and I think Iām absolutely unable to find the right combination of words and sentences to express how I feel, howĀ youĀ have made me feel and are making me feel right now. Oh, youāve done the impossible, Lupin, youāve made me speechless. And thatās what you seem to do, doing the impossible. You have such power over me, have the ability to make me feel such heavy emotions that it sometimes worries me.Ā
"You know, Iām not one for romance. I think love is a simple thing, something that is most beautiful when itās easy. Because they werenāt with us, at the start, I do know that. But now, these last weeks, theyāve been so easy, so simple and natural and Iām happier than Iāve ever been before. IĀ loveĀ loving you, Remus Lupin, and intend to do it for the rest of my life.ā
And tears now trickled over her cheeks, creating wet lines on her face as eyes managed to look away from her soon-to-be-husband, falling on her mother, whoās face was also wet and being dried with a handkerchief. She didnāt manage long, eyes falling on her father for a small moment before looking at Remus once again, waiting for the moment where he had to say āI doā, and somehow wishing that time would pass quicker so sheād be able to kiss him.Ā
Moments passed, and both she and Remus blurted out their āI doāsā before the ceremony master was able to finish, both eager to make this decision final, to finally be a married couple. Something neither had ever expected to be part of.Ā
Rings were exchanged, and everything seemed to be a haze because Tonks - or was it now Lupin? - was so overwhelmed. She barely felt how cold the silver was, only noticed how Remus, too, looked up right after having putting it on, not wasting any time on staring at the piece of metal with what was standing across of him.Ā
And when the ceremony master told him that he was now allowed to kiss the bride, she interrupted him by flinging her arms around Remus and pressing her lips on his. There had been no kiss as good as this one, she was certain of that as she grinned, ecstasy filling her up.Ā
The bride was not supposed to initiate the kiss, like the ceremony master had instructed. It was the groom who was supposed to start kiss, which was supposed to be simple and calm, so everyone was able to watch without getting uncomfortable.
But Nymphadora was a rebel. And if she wanted to be the one to start a kiss way too passionate for her parents to see, even though this was not what was expected of her, she was going to.
