The Dipsa is a serpentine creature found in Medieval bestiaries. It resembles a snake so small it is almost invisible to the naked eye, and is covered in mucus.

The Dipsa is so venomous that it is said that their victims will die before they are even aware that they have been bitten.

The Dipsa is said to be so small that it’s impossible to notice, leading to people stepping on it by accident.

Those bitten by the Dipsa are dead before they even feel the bite.

The bite causes its victims to die of thirst.

Some descriptions makes it seem as though the venom rapidly dehydrates its victim.

Dipse (which is the correct plural form) are so small that even their bright colours pass unnoticed on the ground. They like sunny places and meadows full of flowers where they can hide and wait for something to bite. They can be told apart from other species of small snakes thank to the typical stripes on the head, from the nostril to the eye, whatever colour they have.
