To eventually spin my nettles into string, I’ve started to practise spinning with a drop spindle and wool that @bookshelfdreams was very kind to send me :D (thanx a lot!)
Spinning the wool into a regular(ish) thread took a little practise but it did come out quite nice I think :D
I got three strands of that, very very professionally wrapped them onto an empty kitchen roll, stuck that onto a spoon wedged between mattress and bed frame. I forgot to take a picture of it, maybe I will next time. Then, I twined the three strands together off that unholy setup.
(Woah it actually looks like wool now!) Then I took the thread off the spindle and soaked it in warm water, I’m not quite sure exactly what that does, I think it makes the strands settle into each other a little, and distribute their twist? Grain of salt tho.
Then I let it dry until now, and look it’s actually wool thread! With not even that many irregularities! (We ignore the top right)
So yeah, yay spinning \o/ (it is quite a lot of fun)
