The night was still so young. Naturally, he was never the only person traversing the streets of the vast city, but he scarcely came across anyone along his travels. Where did he intend to stop? Nowhere, yet. It was far more aligned with a mere scouting mission than something with definite purpose. Already having committed himself to not one but three mercy killings thus far, Adam seemed to have abandoned his previous discussion notion with Roman about remaining off-grid. It was fury’s fault. Rage. It bubbled within him and threatened to overflow like a cracked dam. And damn, was he restraining himself.
He paused when he reached the back of the library. Leaning against the cold wall, he exhaled a somewhat shaken breath. No matter how fast he ran, the city seemed to just continue opening up. His thoughts seemed to cling as tightly as they could. He could not escape any of it. He was indeed bound to the mercy, or rather cruelty, of the city before him. A harsh reality he still had yet to fully wake from.
Some time passed and he decided it was due time to move on. Perhaps find Roman, if possible. It was vital that they remained updated. Already Adam himself had learned a fair few things, of who may or may not be present with them, that having their tools and powers taken was something of a rite of passage here. Either way, he straightened himself up to leave.
But he did not.
Instead of turning on his heel and returning on his nighttime venture through the city, he was drawn to a commotion a few yards in the opposing alley way. The shade of the shadows was seemingly on his side, as whoever the strangers were across the way, they had yet to spy the lurking faunus. But he didn’t intend to keep his presence a secret for long. He drew closer, soon able to make out the frame of a wimpy, thin stick of a man, cowering beneath the stature of a much larger, far more impressive type.
However, before Adam could quite grasp the events transpiring there, the slender man began to run. He leapt upon his heels and darted towards the exit of the alleyway, a beeline for where Adam stood waiting in the shadows. It took only a moment, just the fraction of a second, for Adam to catch the man off-guard, fresh-obtained dagger in hand before he embedded the blade within one of those wailing arms. Tearing the skin clean from the limb, Adam moved beneath the light of the streetlamp, moving aside as the man stumbled and fell, gasping in pain as he collapsed against the concrete.
“Was it worth it?” He asked the dying man, not truly expecting much of a response.
