Take this 🫴 there’s a long journey ahead

To those who don't ride bikes for anything more than leisure, biking is deadly.

However, I am not trying to scare you into never riding!!!! I just wanted to get your attention :0

Anyways, like many others, I ride on the street competing for space with cars. The problem with this is that cars weight about 1 ton, and me plus my bike weight about 220 pounds. So if anything were to happen, I would pretty much die. Now that doesn't scare me too much,because I am a boss when it comes to bullying cars out of my lane while still navigating the pot holes.

The problem between cars (actually drivers) and bikes is that there is a stalemate for legality on the roads and the DMV and various (believe me, there are literally hundreds) governing bodies who oversee the roads can't make up their mind about who gets what space, or what is shared. On top of that, in this country there is no education about how to react to cyclists on the roads for drivers going though exams, yet, all cycling classes teach you how to navigate the roads.

The link I posted is just one of the more recent legal "wins" for cyclists who ride on the roads. In summary, California has passed a law stating that all cars have to pass with no less than 3 feet of space between the car and the cyclist. If you violate this, it's a steep $200 fine!

There have been other recent laws that have been passed to make cycling more convenient and safer for cyclists, like in Colorado, cyclists can legally perform rolling stops at stop signs! I wish I could do that here! *cough cough*
