❝  I  KNOW  .  ❞  they’ve  had  this  discussion  countless  times  ,  and  in  both  situations  —  either  about  sebastian’s  concern  for  carol  ,  or  carol’s  concern  for  him  in  turn  .  both  live  dangerous  lives  ,  caught  up  in  worlds  beyond  their  control  ,  so  worry  is  a  natural  factor  in  their  relationship  ;  IT’S  INEVITABLE  ,  but  clearly  they  both  have  a  tendency  to  take  it  a  bit  too  far  or  heighten  the  emotions  too  strongly  .  as  sebastian  presses  his  palms  into  the  island  counter  ,  LEANING  OVER  ,  peering  at  carol  near  the  sink  ,  his  head  starts  spinning  ,  the  cogs  and  wheels  of  a  constructive  mind  bursting  to  life  with  new  consideration  and  energy  .  they’re  in  his  flat  in  london  —  these  conversations  always  seem  to  happen  right  as  they’re  prepping  for  dinner  ,  as  if  they  were  timed  for  that  occasion  .  ❝  i  know  ,  ❞  he  says  again  ,  clearing  his  throat  and  peering  down  at  the  granite  countertops  beneath  his  fingers  .  ❝  and  i  can  say  the  exact  same  thing  you  always  say  to  me  after  i  finish  an  assignment  .  I’M  ALWAYS  GOING  TO  WORRY  .  i’m  always  going  to  fear  for  your  life  and  want  your  safety  ,  but  in  the  end  ,  i  know  you  have  to  these  things  and  take  on  these  responsibilities  because  it’s  in  your  nature  .  IT’S  YOUR  JOB  .  ❞  another  pause  ,  and  another  thought  encroaches  his  mind  .  ❝  there’s  a  way  we  could  ease  the  stress  of  this  whole  situation  ,  you  know  .  ❞  as  he  turns  to  wash  his  hands  in  the  sink  ,  he  braces  for  carol’s  incoming  reaction  to  the  major  suggestion  .  ❝  make  it  easier  to  tolerate  each  other’s  work  and  all  the  dangers  we  find  ourselves  in  .  no  more  sleepless  nights  .  ❞  after  drying  his  hands  off  ,  he  faces  carol  again  .  ❝  what  if  you  moved  in  with  me  ?  HERE  ?  lived  with  me  in  london  .  what  if  you  . . .  we  could  be  together  more  often  .  it  could  solve  a  lot  of  the  anxiety  we’re  feeling  .  we  could  take  that  next  step  ,  care  .  ❞  sebastian  tilts  his  head  ,  bottom  lip  between  his  teeth  .  ❝  do  you  think  you’re  ready  for  that  ?  I’M  READY  FOR  IT  .  ❞

if  it  is  any  consolation,    allison  wears  sweat  down  the  spine  and  puddled  in  the  collarbones.    her  smile,    though,    rivals  the  sun  in  how  it  blisters  in  the  face  of  triumph.    she  is  unwrapping  her  hands,    curling  and  uncurling  her  fingers,    and  watching  carol  with  a  look  that  boasts  more  than  it  apologizes.    ❝    oh,    come  on,    ❞  cajoles  the  moon,    ❝    it  wasn’t  that  bad.    ❞  laughter  threatens;    to  dismiss  it,    she  purses  her  lips  and  focuses  on  packing  her  gloves.    whatever  stresses  her,    for  the  moment,    is  delegated  to  the  end  of  a  line  of  responsibilities  and  allison  basks  in  the  lightness  of  the  moment.    the  laughter  wins.    ❝    change  of  plans.    i’ll  buy  dinner  this  time.    but  next  time  i  beat  you.  .  .    ❞

HANDS FIDGET WITH THE HALF - PEELED OFF LABEL FROM A BOTTLE, a drink she'd been nursing for some time now. the charm of alcohol was all but wasted on her, despite multiple attempts to feel some sense of numbing. she wants to accept carol's judgement, the comforts of her words don't peel off of her entirely, but in the end, would it not always be her self - doubt taking over? for years, bianca's tried to do better, to remove herself from the life and identity pinned on her before she'd had any say in it herself. mistakes, she thinks to herself as the bottle's brought back up to take another sip. her mistakes have been countless –– and though her fate had been decided by someone far more powerful, these atrocities had still happened by her hand. ❛❛ i don't know if the rest of the world is as forgiving as you.  ❜❜

diana looks around at the minimal damage,     the side of a building blown to rubble,    debris hanging in the air,    and there is a brief moment of pride that runs through her  ––  no one is injured and we still stand tall:  two pillars of wonder,   of spectacle.      ❝   perhaps it is too small.     i always appreciate extra help,    however,    especially given that these heists have been going on for a bit too long.     ❞     in the distance,      sirens begin wailing.     her gaze shifts to @dinopunching​.     ❝   so:  what does the rest of your day look like ?   ❞

senses are both inundated and overwhelmed by her,   seeking the warmth to which the flush of her skin would bring to her cold hands.     ‟  you say we’re just friends,  but when nobody’s around  . . .   ”      a teasing mutter pressed to her skin,   against the column of her throat and then to the base of it,   where red begins to stain porcelain skin;   a mark of her being,   one that she wished would permanently etch there along her collarbones.    perhaps there were things better left unsaid.
