Made from Croatia's indigenous grape Plavac Mali, this wine has a beautiful, dark ruby red color; powerful aromas of red and dark fruits, vanilla, mediterranean spices, and a hint of caramel; on the palate, plum, currant and red fruit are balanced by an earthiness and nice acidity to provide a dense and pleasing flavor. If you like your wines with strong tannins, this is your wine. This wine holds its own against the red wines we purchase from our Northern California wine regions - for a fraction of the price! _______________________________________ Plavac Mali is a varietal that is the "child" of Zinfandel (which originates in Croatia). Thus, it has many of the same characteristics as Zin, but this wine has more depth, earthiness, and structure than most Zin's you will have tried and comes in at 14.5% alcohol. This is no "jam bomb." _______________________________________The "Dingač" on the bottle is a reference to where these grapes are grown - in a micro-appellation bearing that name on the Peljesac Peninsula off Croatia's western coast. Peljesac juts out into the Adriatic Sea at almost a 90-degree angle.
