Dinevenator robustus was just described from New Mexico, US! It was a large troodontid theropod from the Late Cretaceous known from a nearly complete frontal bone (part of the skull roof).
Earlier this year the bone was identified as a possible species of Xenovenator but scientists just assigned it to a new genus. The name honors the Diné people - an indigenous nation often known as “navajo”.
Scientists misidentified a fossil for 12 years. Now it's officially a new dinosaur species that roamed New Mexico 70 million years ago.
