MediaTek Dimensity 8300 OpenCL Tests Snapdragon Flagship
MediaTek Dimensity 8300
The Dimensity 8300, a mid-range SoC from MediaTek, will be formally unveiled later today (November 21). It performed similarly to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 according to a recent Geekbench ranking. In Geekbench’s OpenCL test, nevertheless, it performs far better than the Qualcomm upper-mid ranges.
In the benchmark, the Arm Mali-G615 MP6 of the Dimensity 8300 receives 9,112 points. Compared to the Adreno 725 (4,056) found in the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, it is more than twice as quick. It outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2‘s Adreno 740 (9,440 average) with punch much above its weight class.
Remarkably fast for a smartphone, the GPU of the Dimensity 8300 is clocked at 1,400 MHz, according to the Geekbench listing. For their gaming phones, OEMs wishing to cut costs may choose to use the Dimensity 8300 (US$899 on Amazon) rather than the more costly Snapdragon rivals.
That’s all we got for now, but as usual, Geekbench isn’t a good GPU test. At its introduction event, MediaTek probably will provide further details about the remarkable GPU capabilities of the Dimensity 8300. It will have to wait till the Redmi K70 launches later this year for real-world benchmarks.
