I realized that I never posted this completed painting. It’s based on a book by the same name, and on the many renditions and icons of this theme that have gone before. But rather than a ladder, I used personal iconography in the form of a partially-build gravity dock once found in Allouez Bay on Lake Superior. I utilized blueprints in its construction. Here are some details of the current work. The second pic shows at left the underdrawing of what will be a part of a cathedral. The goal is to complete this work by early summer.

Here you can see some of the hundreds of pilings that are being added which will eventually support the main structures which I’m working on now. Using blueprints, the idea is to mimic in a relatively accurate way the construction of sections of a large gravity dock such that are found on the Great Lakes.
