Dimensional Allies| Frigga & Clea
Asgard, Clea mused, was a direct contrast to the shadow draped lands of her home dimension.
The realm of the Aesir was warmer in comparison, heated by the light of the sun that shone down on the kingdom below . Golden towers dominated the expanse of land, and sparkled as if they too were made purely of light. It truly looked like the paradise legend spoke of, and somehow, the sorceress could not see her uncle allying with such people. His political relationships tended to consist of other eldritch beings; creatures that lurked in the dark and had similar goals of domination. Asgard, while a society of warriors, was not interested in such pointless bouts of conquest. Dormammu should have found them to be useless allies, but for some reason, he maintained contact with the Allfather over the millennia. Perhaps it was simply a way for the previous regent to keep an eye on his…brighter adversaries? What was that earth saying? Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Despite the previous relationship between rulers, the new Queen Regent was by all means interested in maintaining it. The Dark Dimension was a natural crossing point for several pocket dimensions, making its residents particularly vulnerable to attack. While she and the King’s Guard could ward off any hapless warlords who stumbled in, she would not deny the security of having a second army at her back.
“The Allfather welcomes you to Asgard,”
A small group of warriors greeted Clea’s party almost immediately after exiting the Bifrost, bowing slightly before quickly escorting them to the palace. Her personal guard, clad in their usual golden armour, fell into a well practised formation around the sorceress as they traveled down the crystalline bridge. She would have far preferred to come alone, as she did on Earth, but there were certain stipulations when it came to diplomatic trips such as these. Here, she was a ruler; an ambassador for her people, not someone who could blend in amidst the crowds. She might as well have painted a target on her back.
“I can’t fathom how you spend so much time on Earth, your Grace. It’s far too bright here,”
She turned to the man beside her, smiling slightly. Rahl; he was her second in command during the Rebellion, and the only person she trusted with the position of royal advisor. Clea could see him trying not to squint, choosing instead to block the sun’s rays with a hand. “You grow accustomed to it over time.” She said reassuringly, patting his arm.
The Sorceress’ crown of flames seemed to shine brighter in the lower light of the palace, drawing more than a few glances towards the group as they walked. It did not take long to reach the meeting room once they entered the building, and Clea gestured to the guards to remain outside. “I should go in alone, at least for now,” she said to Rahl, watching his nod in response. The doors, while heavy, moved easily beneath her hands, and she entered the chamber to await counsel with the Allfather.
