good end
As a human, his virtue was apparently Determination. Sickly, searing red that drove him on to complete his goals and was utterly unwilling to bend or break in the face of adversity.
...But unwilling to change did not mean impossible to change.
Glitchy was a stagnant, stubborn skeleton who secretly feared change perhaps more than anything else. Even so, he could be coaxed into changing if the process was slow and gentle enough to keep from arousing his suspicions.
This time, his adopted child had not decided to start a slaughter. The catalyst that set his plan into motion was no longer present. Without one, without something drastic enough to spur him into action, he was loathe to initiate his plan to gather seven souls.
Yes, he knew that he was the last hope his timeline had and that it was his fault that his timeline was in the mess that it was to begin with, but... he was so tired. Tired of fighting, of distrusting, of spreading ruin to anything he touched.
What he had now—a boyfriend, an adopted son, a makeshift family of sorts—he liked it. It was one of the first things that made him feel safe and genuinely happy in a long, looong while. He knew full-well that he would lose it all if he decided to go through with his plan, so he just. Didn’t.
Right now, he had loved ones who he cared about as best as he could. After he completed his plan... sure, his timeline may be up on the surface, but after that, then what? His hope that his empathy would be regained by living through life as it was meant to be was just that: hope. Something that, in his experience, was worthless and lead only to disappointment.
So, rather than sacrifice everything for something that may be fruitless, he dropped that plan to gather souls entirely. In his eyes, it was horrible, selfish, perhaps even more detestable than anything in the long list of atrocities he had committed.
...But he never claimed to be anything but those things.
