Doing lots of test renders before I find the right look for the Dijeweled gems
More UI stuff for Dijeweled, the multiplayer Bejeweled clone. (The blue windows are how it looked originally, for comparison)
Because LDinos made a multiplayer Bejeweled game for free for me to enjoy, so I feel like giving something back by contributing some graphics. I also really enjoy this kind of game, and I wanted to challenge myself to make some UI stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m also terrible at economy.
Alright, today I packed all the UI assets and backgrounds and sent them to the developer (LDinos). Hopefully he’ll be able to implement most of it by the next weekend - I’m really hyped to see it working inside the actual game!
Here are four new backgrounds - I ended up making 15 in total, so I think it should be sufficient!
WOO, here’s finally the last bits of the Dijeweled UI! (Just need to export and pack it all properly)
So hyped to see it in-game now!
NOTE: Dijeweled is a FREE local and online multiplayer clone of Bejeweled, made by LDinos.

More UI stuff for Dijeweled (the free multiplayer Bejeweled clone by LDinos!)
Now we have a new trolley for the turn-based “Avalanche” mode, and a new menu screen for online connection.
(Images on the right: Old versions for comparison)
Also need to render out some new gems soon - Here’s some preliminary testing:
So, I got some feedback. Thanks, people!
Tenterflex, what’s really cool about this Bejeweled clone (in my opinion) is that it has both local and online multiplayer, and even bots! The game is called Dijeweled and is made by a guy who goes by the name LDinos, and he regularly uploads new versions of the game to his Discord group.
I’ve dreamt about this kind of game, ever since I played Starjeweled (the Starcraft 2 mod), so I’m really happy to see someone actually making it and releasing it for everyone to enjoy for free. (At least it has been free so far)
Florasora, I don’t have all that much work left (just some buttons and tabs). Do you mean you would like to see a lot changed? If so, what?
And yes, it’s a big challenge. Especially for me, since I’m usually not a big fan of drawing. But I’m having lots of fun!
Kzantezuken, thanks, but it’s not exactly “work”. This is something I’m doing out of pure interest, not something I’m paid for. But perhaps I shouldn’t expect to see my own manic interest in Bejeweled reflected in everyone else. Heh.
Anyway, here’s how the current game looks:
As you can see, it’s very clean, functional and readable. I just miss the nice gold and pink from Bejeweled (3, in particular), and some backgrounds to give it a bit more breathing space.
Here’s one of my takes on it, so far:
(The gems will be the smaller and the grid will be 8x8, I just didn’t have gems sprites in the correct size. Will render out new gems, anyway.)
