She set the box of food on his dining room table, then looked up at him with a big wide smile. 

  “Are you busy the rest of the day?    Do you want to hang out for a bit?”

 All I ever need is our family.

Michael had taken out about HALF of his fathers clothes from his luggage, all in hopes there would be enough room for him too. Which, now, finally there was. He knew his dad had to leave again for work- but- he didn’t want his dad to go without  him. So inside Michael got, with his ‘breathing straw’- (which the idea he got from a cartoon), and zipped up the bag as best as he could from the inside.

The sun was long from setting, but they wanted to get this up before dusk crept up on them. Dawn, and her daughter Katie were busy as they set up the perimeter around the house they were going to crash in. While inside, at the window sat her young child, Michael. Safe and sound inside. 

  Katie held onto the stakes as Dawn hammered them into place. The stakes held up the rope, while cans and bottles dangled down. A crude, but effective alarm system. But it was as good as they could get for the time being. 

At least they were nearly done, and they could settle in for the evening.

Carson,I wanted to call and ask this, but I know how much you like to avoidthe phone, and it seemed a little cheesy to say this in a voicemail.(Although maybe a letter is just ascheesy. But whatever.)

But I wanted to ask you on a date.I know you aren’t really fond of leaving home, but I was thinking maybe I could come over and cooksupper for you one night? Hell, let’smake it a double date: You, me, and Toby and Lucy. I’ll even cook them something special.  ツ
