When me and my little sister were younger, we used to watch the OG "Digimon Adventure" anime on Netflix, and we would almost always sing along to the theme song cus it was a banger.
But we...um, were kinda fucking stupid and misheard a key part of the chorus, and didn't realize it till like 2 years later.
You know that part of the intro song where it's like "Digimon, digital monsters, Digimon are the champions"?
Super catchy, right?
Shows up a ton in the intro song, RIGHT?
WELL, US BEING FUCKING DEAF I GUESS, WE THOUGHT INSTEAD OF IT SAYING "Digimon are the champions", WE THOUGHT IT WAS SAYING "Digimon garlic champions".
WHY DID WE THINK THIS???? THAT MAKES NO SENSE?!?!?!?!
WE DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE WE WERE WRONG UNTIL WE ACCIDENTALLY HAD THE SUBTITLES ON DURING ONE OF THE EPISODES (we were watching it in the English dub), AND SAW IT SAY "Digimon are the champions".
We. were. actually. speechless. for. once. in. our. lives.
To THIS DAY, WHENEVER ONE OF US SOMEHOW MENTIONS DIGIMON OR WE SEE SOMETHING RELATED TO IT, WE BOTH'LL LOOK AT EACH OTHER AND BE LIKE
"hehehehe Digimon garlic champions"
Needless to say, we were stupid ass kids.
