#difficult sometimes

So I've been one that's been wearing a safety pin the past week and a half or so, and working at a school that the majority of the staff is conservative/older, they don't particularly approve of the symbol. I had one teacher that was borderline mocking me for it, although I know he didn't mean it in a mean way. And I had another teacher that asked me what it meant this morning, and so I explained it to her, and then a little later in the day she was saying something and it was a topic that caused some dispute and she made a joke about how "if you wanted to feel good about something, you should see Nathan instead... we should start telling people that" And I know she meant it as a joke/sarcastically/not in a nice way, but at the same time like, please do that??? That's kind of my goal, actually, for my students to know that I'm not going to be that kind of person. Hence why I wear the safety pin.
