So, on my physio’s advice, I joined a gym last week.
Today, I had a session with one of the personal trainers as an “induction” where she showed me how to use a bunch of machines.
And… she was so baffled by me.
“How did you injure yourself?”
“Netball.”
“Do you play professionally?”
“No”
“Okay so how often do you play?”
“2-3 times per week”
????
“Okay so it’s like…a big part of your life then?”
“Yeah. Plus umpiring, coaching…”
“…. Ooooooo kaaaaay”
[session starts]
[it rapidly becomes obvious I do NOT know how to use machines when I literally get on one backwards AND upside down]
Her: still trying to work out how I can be very sport and yet negative gym
“So…. Have you… *never* been in a gym before?”
“I mean… technically I did go in once on a year 9 PE excursion?”
“And… you… play a lot of netball…”
“Uh huh.”
[cue more polite wtf faces]

Anyway, this is all a long winded way of saying I’ve joined a gym, and was deeply amused by the gym people’s inability to make sense of me :)
