The only way you can do that is by fighting the best, and that is what I do.” Diego Corrales was born #OnThisDay in 1977 in Sacramento to a Colombian father and a Mexican mother. As a member of a teenage street gang, violence was a way of life for the young Corrales, he saw his best friend murdered in a drive-by shooting and subsequently took up boxing in a bid to stay out of trouble. He was a true fighter's fighter and is best remembered for his extraordinarily brutal bout with Jose Luis Castillo in 2005 – one of the greatest fights of all time. 'Chico' was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on the outskirts of Las Vegas in May 2007.
