gymnast!Danny
When Danny was 9 he and his parents drove out to the circus, where they saw the flying Graysons (don’t think about how their next stop was Gotham). Danny sees a boy around his age doing all those cool tricks and decides he wants to be able to do them too, so he gets his parents to sign him up for gymnastics.
Turns out he was a gymnastics prodigy, was good enough his parents were thinking of moving so that Danny could go and get some real coaching and reach his (actually possible) dreams of being on the Olympics.
But, tragedy strikes and Danny gets an injury and is forced to quit gymnastics for good when he’s 11/12 years old.
When the incident first occurs he doesn’t have time to think about the ramifications it had on his body beyond the fact he can now go ghost. Eventually though, Danny starts getting curious… and goes to the doctor again to get re-examined because he has to know what all about him is changed.
He is cleared to perform again, and now that the ghosts are all friends with him and civil, after a few months of training, he re-enters the competition circuit.
He doesn’t win (obviously, it’s been years and doing it all human is much more difficult than it would be in his other form). He doesn’t care much about losing, just happy he’s back on the mats again.
What he doesn’t notice is that the ghosts, angry at Danny not winning gold have been going after all the gymnasts that beat him in the competitions… but the bats notice, and send in Dick to investigate.
Something something, Defying Gravity.
