"Enjoying family time?" Freeze had a sinister sneer on his face as he wreaked havoc in Gotham City's Central Park. Pointing his gun at a bystanding family, he freezes them, and they slide down to the ground. "My family has other plans."
He powers up his gun again, but before it could fire, a batarang is swung at the nozzle, making him stumble.
"Batman," he grumbled. "I was wondering when-" Turning around, he paused when he found no one.
Ha ha ha ha.
The eerie laughter echoed from all around.
Before Freeze could even react, Robin landed right on his helmet and then, jumping to the ground, he threw two more batarangs at his helmet, cracking it.
"Oh. Boy Wonder," he sounded unimpressed. "The Bat sent you to drag me off to prison?" Freeze stood up, readying his gun again. "Frankly, I'm underwhelmed."
"Great," Robin chipped, "but I'm kind of in a hurry here."
"Kids," Freeze smirked, "always in such a rush."
"Not talking to you," Robin simply replied, making Freeze's eyes widen.
The villain turned around, just to see Batman jump up into the air and punch the lights out of him.
"That took longer than necessary," Robin grumbled.
"You need to learn patience," the Batman replied in that deep voice of his.
"Right," Robin said, holding out a hand toward the Batmobile. "We can talk about that on the way- UFF!!"
THUMP!
Batman watched, deadpan, as the girl who had apparently dropped from the sky sat up, looking around like a curious cat.
"Hey!" Sabrina looked comically offended. "This is so not the mansion we were planning to rob!"
"Get off!" Robin sat up, slightly pushing the girl off his lap. "What are you doing here- wait- rob?!"
"Don't take that tone with me, boy wonder," Sabrina jabbed a finger at his chest. "I'm just as confused as you."
"You just used me as a landing pad, cat brugler," Robin had the same infuriated tone as her. "I'll use whatever tone I want."
"All you had to do," Batman lowly grumbled, already tired of their bickering, "was drop her off conspicuously."
"Well, if I had told her where I was taking her," the smooth voice of Catwoman came from beside Batman, "she never would've come willingly."
"Hey!" Their attention was stolen by the black haired girl, with silver streaks in between them, who was using one of her hands to keep Robin at a distance (he was still trying to grab at her, still to no avail), while she used the other one to cheerily wave at them. "Catwoman! I thought we were gonna empty some safes, not have a meet-and-greet with the bird family!"
Batman gave Catwoman a side, to which she just chuckled.
"She's just kidding," Selina gave her sweet chuckle, then turned to her protege. "I'll see you later, Kitten!" Catwoman waved back to Sabrina in the same manner and enthusiasm. "I'm sure you're going to love the new team!"
"The what?!" Sabrine stopped waving, but it was too late. Catwoman had already ziplined away, still waving sweetly at the girl. "Hey! No fair! What are you doing?!!"
Robin finally got away from her palm and immediately twisted her hands behind her back.
"Finally," His grin could be seen from miles away. "I finally get to hand you off to the GCPD!" He looked like a kid on Christmas as he pulled out some ropes from his utility belt. "I have dreamt of this day! Finally, it is here!"
"Glad to know you dream of me," Sabrina looked up at him through her lashes, leaning back into his chest, making Robin lose his grin and straighten her up.
"Stay still," He grumbled.
"You're no fun, bird boy," Sabrina pouted.
"Don't call me that!" Robin comically yells at her. "AGH, I have never felt more satisfied catching a criminal before-"
"Oh, please," you could hear the eyeroll through Sabrina's words. "You think ropes can hold me?"
"Uh, yeah-" Robin started to say as he wrapped the rope around her hands. But he cuts himself off when Sabrina steps away, twirling the rope between her fingers.
"You've got a lot to learn, bird boy," Sabrina said with a sly smile.
"I'm gonna put you in a straitjacket," Robin goes to grab at her again, but Batman intervenes, catching his sidekick under his arm.
"There'll be no need for that."
"Huh?" Robin let out, and both children turned to look at Batman. "Why not?!"
"Because she's coming with us," the vigilante simply responded.
...
"HUH?!!!??!"
"Batman," Robin was still whining in the passenger seat. "You cannot be serious!"
"Yeah!" Sabrina nodded, the two finally agreeing on something. "What bird boy said."
"Don't call me that!" He hissed at her, then turned back to Batman. "She's a criminal!"
"Yeah, I steal stuff," Sabrina nodded again, pointing to herself. "And granted, I am very good at that, still, that is, in no shape or form, a quality that makes a hero," she moved her hands around comically as she ranted. "No offence, but all of you heroes seem so uptight and like you have no fun at all! I mean, what's with looking like you have gotten the life sucked out of you, anyway? Is that one of the requirements to qualify to be a hero? Does the Justice League hold interviews and rate the broodiness of new recruits? I mean, come on, would it kill you to smile once in a while?" Batman was not amused. "...no offence."
It was quiet.
"Seriously?" Robin muttered to Batman. "You're letting her be a hero."
"See!" Sabrina shrugged. "Not hero material."
"Catwoman approached me personally." Batman gave the girl a pointed look in the rearview mirror, making her sit back and pout. "She disclosed that she really doesn't want a life of crime for you, and if I were to recruit you, you would be cooperative-"
"Impossible," Sabrina's reply was immediate.
"-as cooperative as you can be," Batman didn't miss a beat. "And that you could really make it out to the right path. I decided to take her up on that offer. The fewer potential criminals there are in Gotham, the better."
"Still!" Robin threw his hands up. "We cannot trust her! She's not like us!"
"And thank god for actually giving me a likeable personality," Sabrina held up her hand, admiring her perfectly manicured nails while Robin whipped back his head and glared at her.
Batman, Green Arrow, and Aquaman all stood with their sidekicks in the courtyard in front of the Hall of Justice.
They all looked so proud.
"Today's the day," Batman said, putting a hand to Robin's shoulder.
"Welcome to the Hall of Justice," Green Arrow continued.
"Headquarters of the Justice League," Aquaman added.
"Oh, man!"
They all turned to see Flash and Kid Flash skid to a stop behind them, "I knew we'd be the last ones here."
Kid Flash pouted.
"So," the voice came from the side. "This is what a sidekick meet-up looks like."
Everyone turned to the young girl.
"Now, that's just depressing."
Sabrina Voss sat at a nearby bench, holding a half-eaten burger in one hand and a soda in the other.
Robin gave the girl an annoyed glare, Speedy looked uninterested, and Auqalad looked poised.
'Who's she?' Speedy voiced the question most of them were thinking.
"No one important," Robin gritted out.
"Rude," Sabrina narrowed her eyes, amused, and taking another bite. "I'm plenty important. Just ask the GCPD."
Batman remained as stoic as ever. "She's with us. Long story."
