Best Picture Project: Cavalcade (1933) In Cavalcade, like Cimarron, we have an attempt at a sweeping epic that takes place over several decades and quite a few famous world events including the Second Boer War, the sinking of the Titanic, and World War I. Cavalcade is marginally more successful if nothing else due to the fact that there are far less problematic portrayals of minorities. Mostly because there are essentially no minorities in the film. I found this one to be....just okay. Nothing I'll probably ever watch again, but nothing so terrible that I regret seeing it. There are a small handful of decent performances scattered throughout. But the large world events all sweep by so fast it's kind of impossible to feel anything about any of it.
