“I, um.” Draco’s voice dropped off as Hermione watched him mumble wordlessly to himself. Then, he counted to three on his fingers. “Are you on the potion?”

Hermione had only gotten a few paces closer to the stairs when a hand clamped down on her wrist and spun her until she found herself pinned against the wall. The scent of whiskey and tobacco hit her nose before she realized who’d been bold enough to sneak away from the reception and find her.

“It’s rude for a host to leave their own party early,” Cormac sneered. “Is it not?”
