Disgaea, Hour of Uprising
A Kid Icarus Crossover Fanfiction with Disgaea. Set around 5 months after the events of Uprising. (Yeh, also I guess I have to say this for some sort of copyright reason: I donât own any of the characters here. All characters belong to their respective owners. Fun Fact, however. Even when I say that, this still technically isnât free use. This is just something Nintendo and Nippon Ichi let slide, because not only is it technically free promotion, fanfiction is such a harmless(?) variety of fan-work that it really wouldnât affect their bottom line.)
Prologue 2: Uncomfortable Questions.
Pit woke up on a couch. He sat up, his tired body trying to keep him lying down. He was on a couch, one of the 3 in the living room.
âHow... how did I get to the living room?â Pit asked himself, trying to recall what had occurred after his session with the punching bag. âLetâs see, I was punching the bag... My eyelids started feeling heavy... Agghhhh, I canât remember anything after that. I mustâve walked here, then fell asleep.â Pit sat on the couch for a few more moments, trying to keep awake. He perked up at the smell of coffee. He looked to where the smell was coming from, but was quickly distracted by the clock. âW-wuh? 9:37? Thatâs strange, I usually always wake up between 5 or 6 o clock, even without an alarm...â Pitâs sleepy train of thought was derailed once again, this time by a person emerging from behind the doorway.Â
It was Lady Palutena, dressed as she usually was during peacetime. A sleeveless dress that went down to her ankles. There was no medallion around her neck, no cut in the dress that showed off her legs. Just a sleeveless dress.
Lady Palutena was holding two cups of coffee. She placed one of the cups down on the couch, next to Pit. He took a long drink from it, the warm liquid feeling pretty good in his mouth. He looked over at Lady Palutena, who was now sitting at the other end of the couch, staring at Pit. Her look was not happy, nor angry. She looked... stern, but also curious about something. Pit felt slightly persecuted.
Eventually, Lady Palutena spoke. âGood morning, Pit.âÂ
âGâmorning, Lady Palutena,â Pit responded. Lady Palutena sipped her coffee.Â
âHow are you feeling?â She asked, gesturing towards Pit with her index finger.Â
âUmm... Iâm tired, mostly.âÂ
âNo, not really, Lady Palutena. Why are you asking?â Lady Palutena took another sip of coffee, as did Pit.Â
âPit, the last time you woke up after 7:00, you were very sick. Remember?âÂ
âWell, yeah... Thatâs âcuz I was vomiting at... around 2:00 am, I think.âÂ
âMmmhmm, thatâs part of it,â Lady Palutena said, sliding closer to Pit on the couch. âBut if I recall correctly, you couldnât get to sleep even after that. And why was that?â Pitâs memory of that time was rather hazy, seeing as it was two weeks ago. He recalled, however, the reasons he couldnât sleep that night as well.
âI... I was having this anxiety attack.âÂ
âYes, you were,â Lady Palutena said. âI found you pacing around your room, mumbling to yourself about how you couldnât seem to calm down, among other things.â Pit was... kind of confused. He took another drink of coffee, finishing off the mug.Â
âLady Palutena, Iâm thankful your concerned about me, but... is this going somewhere?â
Lady Palutena chuckled for a small moment. âAhh! Thank you for asking, Pit. I was just about to get to my reason for this discussion.â Lady Palutena leaned closer to Pitâs face, staring at him sternly. Pit felt nervous. âPit, when I woke up this morning, I did not hear or see you around at all. So imagine my surprise when I walk into the training room, and see you collapsed in front of a punching bag.â Pit felt more nervous.Â
âAhhh... A-ahhhhhh--âÂ
Lady Palutena cut him off. âAh-ah-ah! You may explain yourself in moment. Pit, did you have another sudden bout of anxiety last night?â Pit did not respond at first. âWell? Did you?âÂ
âY-y-y-yeah, I-I did.âÂ
âAnd did I not explicitly instruct you to come tell me if these bouts were to occur again?â Pit was now leaning backwards, trying to escape Lady Palutenaâs stare. He was not successful. Lady Palutena stood up, and moved herself in front of Pit.Â
âY-yes, you did t-t-tell me that.â Pit finally said, sweating.Â
âSo why did you not come tell me?â Lady Palutena asked.Â
âW-well, you-you were asleep!â Pit said.Â
âIs that the only reason?âÂ
âI... I really didnât want too. I-I-I mean, if I had told you, I woulda had to deal with all the questions you would ask, a-a-and then y-you wouldâve had to get out of bed to check my t-t-t-temperature to see if I was sick again, a-and I didnât wanna p-put you through that.â
Lady Palutena sighed, hanging her head. âPit....âÂ
âY-yes, Lady Palutena?âÂ
âWhy, oh why, would you think I would be inconvenienced by telling me your anxious? By telling me you canât sleep?âÂ
Lady Palutena suddenly put her hands on Pitâs shoulders.Â
âPit, let me explain something to you. I know two weeks feels like a long period of time, but that is a shorter time span then you think it is. If these bouts were to increase in frequency, from two weeks apart to one week, from one week to every 4 days, however the frequency may increase, your health would take a sudden dive. Not sleeping impairs basic brain functions, because your body is longing for more sleep. Your sleep schedule would get messed up as well, which would only hurt things more. Pit, it is in both yours and my best interest to make sure you are getting to sleep every night. While you did get to sleep eventually, I would prefer you simply come ask me for help, instead of walking all the way down to the training room and using a punching bag till you get tired.â
Lady Palutena stared at Pit for a few more moments. âDo I make myself very clear, young man?âÂ
âY-y-yes, Lady Palutena.âÂ
Lady Palutena took her hands off of Pitâs shoulders, and walked back down the hall. She came back moments later with a plate of garlic bread.Â
âI took the liberty of making you breakfast this morning, seeing as you were out cold.â
Pit took a few semi-nervous bites of the garlic bread. Suddenly, a question came to his mind. âLady Palutena?âÂ
âIf I was out cold in the training room, howâd I get to the couch?â Lady Palutena giggled at this, which calmed Pit down a small amount.Â
âWhy, I carried you. How else would you get to the couch?â
