heyheyhey so.... could you elaborate a little on that ghost thing you wrote a couple days ago? đ only if you wanna tho
YES I WOULD LIKE TO THANK U FOR ASKING
Wrote a lil scene of the first time(?) you think "ok this place is haunted"
---
Youâre huddled under the blankets. So much so, that almost your entire body is under it.
Just a small space for your face, a teddy bear in your arms. Youâre not sure if its better to watch the door or to look away.
You swear there wasnât anything particularly creepy about the house. Was it because you were just too naive to notice the red flags? Is this exactly how horror movie characters act when they buy a haunted mansion? Maybe you shouldnât be so nitpicky next time your friend invites you over for movie night and he chooses horror.
But there wasnât anything âoffâ about it⌠no weird occurrences, no strangely old artifacts. And most people donât immediately assume any house is haunted.
It started with the supposedly new wallpaper peeling off in a weird place. A bit odd but nothing freaky. Then things started to get creepier.
That night you heard what sounded to be a loud thump in the house, like⌠something large just crashed into something. Then youâd find small messes around the house that youâre pretty sure you didnât cause. Moments where it felt like that there was small gusts of wind inexplicably in your own house. Then what sounded like breathing⌠and the feeling you get when you think someoneâs behind you.
There never was, of course.
You tried to rationalize it, multiple times. Could be the house settling, could be you forgetting, orâŚ. honestly, anything that didnât just jump to âGhostâ or âDemonâ.
Then tonight... you couldn't rationalize anymore.
You passed by the spot on the wall again. You heard the sound breathing, sounding like it didnât belong to a person, but a beast. You felt your hair move a little when you paused. Just when youâre about to ignore it, you felt something grab your leg. You screamed and ran up the stairs like you used to when you were a kid, when you just turned off the lights in the living room and rushed back to your room.
Something grabbed you. And after you hid in your room, you could hear the floor creak in the distinct way it does when something heavy is moving on top of it. You can still hear the breathing, but at least itâs outside. It sounds as if itâs⌠pacing around.
You donât know what to do. What are you supposed to do?? Jump out the window? You canât call the police on something you canât see. What if it can leave the house?
So youâve been staying here, hoping nothing happens. You contemplated calling your friend but you didnât want to make any noise, so you just texted him.
You hate those noises. You donât know what youâre dealing with. You donât know what to do. You just want it to-
Another creak.
.
Itâs the door.
You stopped breathing. Good thing youâre pretty much under the blanket. You dropped it as soon as you heard it, and now you canât see anything- just the faint light from outside that can pierce the fabric.
Itâs breathing. It doesnât sound human. The closest thing you can akin it to is maybe if someone had something in their mouth and was breathing through it. Or if they had a bad throat infection. But louder and deeper.
Maybe that wasnât the best comparison but either way, you donât like it.
Footsteps echoes throughout the room. They sound heavy.
You hear aâŚ. a growlâŚ?
You feel your entire body freeze when you feel something brushing over the top of the blanket. Your eyes go wide, your heart jumps into your throat, and all thoughts stop.
⌠Thereâs no other thing you can think of.
This time it sounds like itâs sniffing.
Itâs almost feather light, but as whatever it is reaches your head over the blanket, it feels like claws.
As if things couldnât get any worse, you saw the blanket lifting slightly.
You shut your eyes as tightly as you can, feeling your throat tightening, readying to scream.
âŚ
A heartbeat.
Two heartbeats.
...?
You take a peek andâŚ
Thereâs nothing. Itâs almost like how the blanket was before you hid in it, just slightly open for you to breathe. Under it, you can see the door to your bedroom swinging slightly, as if something had just gone through it, just slightly ajar.
After a minute of two, you shakily grab the edge of the blanket and lift it a bit to look around the room in case⌠In case.
Thereâs still nothing.
You slowly, silently tiptoe towards the door and close it as quietly as you can.
You donât think locking the door would do anything about the⌠whatever it is, and itâd be loud in the deafening silence of the house anyway, so you leave it be.
You walk back to your bed and this time hide your face under the pillow.
Youâll make sure to call your friend tomorrow morning.
Just let me sleep for a bit⌠I'll think about it later...
