so lucas had come to the conclusion that splitting up the party was just a bad idea. every time it happened, someone fell into a grave, got attacked by some humanoid demogorgan-but-not creature, or, perhaps worst of all, got involved in a game of spin-the-bottle that threatened to tear the party apart from the inside out. although he’d briefly tried to check in on his friends after the cabin incident (with varying levels of success...), lucas felt like he needed to check in on dustin personally. his friend hadn’t been with the group in the cabin, so lucas had only a vague idea of what had gone on down by the shore.

and, besides, he needed to pick dustin’s brain about the mike-and-will situation anyway. if they discussed the weird time warp, too, that was a bonus. 

lucas happened to have the day off from the pool and he knew dustin was working, so, with a sock full of quarters stolen from erica’s piggy bank, lucas pulled into the parking lot of the arcade and entered. he played one round of asteroids before approaching the prize counter. 

“hey. what can i get for ten tickets?” he held up said tickets with a half grin and a wave.
