Lavi Cosplay Process Part 1: Planning Character: Lavi Series: D Gray Man Author: Katsuno Hoshino This will be the first time I am posting my process in in-depth detail. The process is just how I like to start my cosplay, but be mindful that you don't need to make cosplays the same way I do. There are many other ways to start making cosplay and this is just one of the many ways. 1. Analysis - the first thing I always do before getting into making the cosplay is to draw out what I want to make while being mindful of how the garment looks on the character. I start with the frame work of the character and like to plot where the garment starts and where it ends (small details in between such as where certain mid points are) so that it will allow me to make the garment with accurate proportions and measurements. 2. Fabric choices - in order to ensure that your fabric is suitable for the garment you are making, it is best to be mindful of what is the purpose of the garment, the weight of the garment, season etc etc. In this case because I am working with something that needs to be more weighty to hold a form, I choose a heavy weight cotton twill to suit my needs. Regular lining so that the interior of the jacket is completely sealed in (optional but I personally like to do it because it looks more finished). Satin bias tape for the edge binding. Always pretreat fabric before use. 3. Measurements - at this point, I like to start estimating how much fabric I would approximately need by taking into account how long I need the garment, how wide and also what fabric I am choosing. IMPORTANT: most fabrics come in a width of either 150 cm (60 inches) or 100 cm (45 inches), but make sure to always check the bolt for the width *certain fabrics may stretch a certain way or have a nap in which you also have to take into account to ensure that you are cutting the fabric the right way to suit your needs. #dgrayman #dgraymanhallowcosplay #dgraymancosplay #dgmcosplay #cosplaywip #sewingproject #sewinginspiration #sewing #lavibookman #lavicosplay #cosplay #sewingisfun #diy #craftmenship #cosplayprogress #cosplayersofinstagram #cosplayanime https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsvnt8AHlOj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1wt7jzpcio9yj
