See, when we play as Tav or Durge, we can study the canon personalities of all the characters we meet or romance, we can understand their personalities and priorities, but when we play someone else's origin, we are suddenly given the opportunity to make any decisions, regardless of the canon nature of the chosen character. In this case, a logical question is: what is the difference then between someone's origin, Durge or Tav? Let me give you the simplest example: almost everyone except Gale, when a player turns into a Mind Flayer, breaks up romantic relatioships with them and only Gale immediately proposes marriage. Do you really think that Astarion, who is at best disgusted by the appearance of a Mind Flayer, will be ok when sleepping with the Emperor or falling in love with him? Do you really think that Lae'zel would do such a thing? Personally, I think this is absolutely illogical. This opportunity - a romance with the Emperor - should only be available to Gale, Tav or Durge. Otherwise, the uniqueness of each character is lost. Let me give you another example. We know that Gale, Karlach and Wyll are absolute sunshine, they are kind good people, ready to protect the innocent. Karlach leaves the party if the player slaughters the Grove. So why does playing as her make this possible? Slaughtering an entire camp of children? Do you really think that Wyll, Gale or Karlach are capable of this? I believe that Astarion, Durge, Tav (after all, here the player is allowed to roleplay as they are pleased) or Shadowheart are, probably, perhaps Lyzel as well, but no one else for sure. So, if you spoil already established canon personalities of those characters, their uniqueness disappears.
