there’s a line in the Book 5 epilogue about how Myron Rollins is working on figuring out magical immortality (or at least life extension, I’m sure), but there’s a line in the Silver Thread books set ~30 years later saying he died recently, so now I’m sad. He didn’t figure it out in time. He was kind of an asshole, I don’t entirely mind, but I’m still sad. Asshole.

everyone says Ghost is the “fear of being forgotten after death.” He self-identifies as the “Spirit of the Forgotten Dead.” But that is NOT what he does! He REMEMBERS the dead! He explicitly canonically flies around the afterlife, absorbing people and remembering them rather than let them be consumed by the ambient magic! Maybe not forever, but until they’re ready to go… Genuinely, this is not scary, it’s reassuring. Everyone living may forget you, every mortal and immortal and even spirits…except this one. It will be cold and damp and dark, but if you let him, he will remember you.
