In case you haven’t noticed, many of the beautiful heritage studios in North America have been closing down due to the change in the way music is recorded and produced. Vancouver unfortunately saw Mushroom Studio close down last year, a studio that hosted bands like Heart, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and Led Zeppelin. For our debut album, we recorded live-off-the-floor in Mushroom Studio weeks before it closed down.
Next week we will be capturing the moment on film of a live studio recording session at another renowned Vancouver studio with funding provided by thePeak-Vancouver for the PEAK Performance Project. Although the vintage and character of Mushroom added to its allure, our next live-off-the-floor session will take place at a secret studio that has had its share of rock’n’roll stories too. You can probably guess as to where it will take place since Vancouver only has a handful of full service studios left with isolation booths, a live room, and a reel to reel 24-track Studer to facilitate the recording of a 6 piece rock’n’roll band, live.
Just a few photos from our Mushroom Studio session, circa January 2013.
