COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday he didn’t know that FirstEnergy Corp., amid its self-acknowledged bribery campaign, made about $4 million in dark money payments backing his 2018 gubernatorial campaign.
A new trove of documents released as part of litigation stemming from FirstEnergy’s sweeping bribery campaign to pass 2019 legislation to bail out its nuclear plants reveal the company’s deep investment in what would become the DeWine ticket.

The veto by DeWine, a Republican, marked a rare victory for LGBTQ+ advocates, who spent the past year battling a historic rise in anti-trans legislation and rhetoric across the United States.
Maria Bruno, policy director for Equality Ohio, said the governor’s veto was “a relief for Ohio’s transgender youth, parents, healthcare professionals and educators who can finally take a breath and get back to their lives”.
But that relief could be short-lived. Top Ohio Republicans, including the secretary of state, Frank LaRose, are now urging the state legislature to reverse the governor’s decision by overriding his veto.
All of these regulations that were cut are to the detriment of the safety of Americans and their food supply.
So here’s Governor DeWine’s response to Biden’s evil vax mandates. What a tepid and weak statement. He’s not joining other Republican governors in resisting or taking Biden to court. He’s not showing strong support for Ohio businesses. He’s not taking any kind of strong stand at all. This is bare minimum lip service at best. Very disappointed in “my” governor.
