wow the strange and wonderful web that can twisted between these five guys lmao. tbh i know the fact that nico and nolpat drifted apart is sad (within a vacuum) but i think they both lucked out with nolpat immediately finding another fishing+hunting loving canadian that is his perfect opposite personality and nico being able to help out another 1OA that struggled a bit at first. nico + np is like the fun orientation week freshman year situationship that obviously was going to go no where but there's no bad feelings and they both needed each other in the moment because of the stressful new environment. both found better long term matches in their respective teams yipee!
of course the story divulges a couple years later because nico and jack are still together and fine (hm..) but tknp.. yikes. i seriously can not imagine that tk does not see some reflection of himself with tz and jd. did he tell tz that close bonded friendships never work out in the league? or does he just observe and give subtle nudges to draw tz away from that tragic storyline?

hey! saw the nico interview, he's not normally this bad, though his serious face is kind of the same as his miserable face lmao. it probably is exhaustion: he had an insane game and they're at the end of a roadtrip. but looking at the post game locker room speech I think the mood of the team is a lot more sober than might be expected. they're definitely celebrating each other individually but we probably won't see them start to losen up about games until we get another couple wins, or at least until they survive the rock

the devs are actually going to give me an early heart attack they're such a mess 😭. to be fairrrr the nemec thing is because he's just coming off injury and took a couple hits last night but it's not exactly comforting. you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your post, it all feels so uncertain and confusing right now. although i will say, even if it's technically only a 4 game L streak, it feels more like an 8 streak because the games before new years were so rough. the maple leafs on nye was absolutely devastating to watch and even though we had a spark of momentum I don't think we've really come back since. that and just the general level of humiliation might explain the lack of morale last night? the lack of celly for the first goal unnerved me too. it was so quick my friends and I didn't actually realise it'd happened, (aside: nico does have a tendency to act absolutely miserable when he's locked in, even if he's scored, so it might have been a bit of that too) but definitely glass' and seigs' goals got proper cellys so god knows. I think it would be pretty shocking if nico's the one with locker room issues considering literally every single thing ever said about him. but maybe if it's over the hugheses... honestly it's all just upside down and inside out right now. minnesota's probably going to eat us alive tonight but what can you do 🫠
if I had to come up with like a genuine theory I might suggest something happened with jack's injury (I'm not sure the glass story is confirmed btw I always assumed it was a bit of a cover for something more serious) and the other injuries compounding to fuck with what was working for them before, then when everyone came back (including a still injured jack) they just couldn't get into the groove PLUS they failed to get the quinn trade the week before which resulted in tension as well as whatever mentality thing is happening and once we started spiraling we couldn't stop. I think it's important to acknowlege how well we were doing at the beginning of the season, but if we're right, the org handled the quinn trade shockingly, and now it and keefe specifically are responding incredibly poorly to the issues at hand.

maybe every time we write long paragraphs about how dysfunctional njd seems they'll win 5-2 over a top team in the league with more points than any team in the east. maybe i flew too close to the sun laying judgment on the devils, considering im a flyers fan. either way, hope you are having a great time rn! lowkey the issue was maybe nico and jack needing to center their own lines + the dcore getting a fire lit under their ass.
truly i don't think anyone expected this kind of win from the devils so major kudos. i am writing this still fresh off the flyers loss (and subsequent philly sports weekend woes) so im kinda like the angry face behind the smiling mask saying 'happy! for! you!' my bad LOL.
um.. do i need to write more rambles about the new jersey devils. meaning i am never writing a long paragraph about them again because this is not the drama i was expecting while in a tough metro battle
