”You promise to give up drinking?” Alice stared him down as she waited for a response.
“Of course Alice. For you, I’d do anything.” Allistor smiled down at the woman in front of him.
Alice smiled as she hugged him tightly before she murmured, “Then I will accept your offer to come here. Alexandra and Aidan will love you.”
Allistor bit his lip as he smiled, a family. She was giving him a family. The one thing he had tried so hard to grip to. He needed to keep this one, there was no room to mess up this time.
His eyes narrowed as he glared into the shot glass he gripped in his hand. He hated how he’d remember the good times when she was the subject he drank to forget. He knew he’d mess it up. He knew he’d drive her away. He just wished he hadn’t. He wished he could turn back time.
He quickly downed another shot before grumbling, “Go away, Devaughn.”
Devaughn sighed, “Allistor, drinking is what got you into this mess, how do you think it can help you? Come home with me. You can clean yourself up again, maybe apologize. She may not take you back, but you may be able to see the kids.”
Allistor angrily threw his glass at his brother as he shouted, “I ruined it! I don’t want her back or the kids! I want them to stay away! I ruin everything I touch!”
Devaughn opened his mouth to yell back but froze when he noticed the tears. With a heavy sigh, he sat beside his brother to bring him home when he calmed down
