My favourite thing from the new episodes is the lore they're building around Gods (or those from outside the universe) being able to interact with the 4th wall.
I cant quite remember but I think the Toymaker made a few nods to it? The Maestro absolutely did. They took the 4th wall and said hey babes! Pay attention to me ;) right now ;) LOOK AT ME
But the DOCTOR. Oh my god the DOCTOR Literally saying "I thought that was non-diagetic" The fact he can hear the shows backing music!!! (Does he just tune it out normally??) Absolutely insane concept i love it.
You could argue they alluded to this with the 12th Doctor playing the show's theme tune but to outright state it. My god where are they going with this i am obsessed
Similarly him winking to the camera at the end. Very reminicent of the 4th doctor skirting the same line.
But to have what were little silly allisions pointed out and clearly wrapped into the story? As a way of showing showing us WHO is godlike and WHO has connections to outside the universe? Again i am obsessed.
I'm guessing it will tie into their continued explorations of the Timeless Child. I am so excited to find out. I am so excited for more silly 4th wall breakers or perhaps one who makes it terrifying.
As a last, this also implies Mrs Flood is a God. Not surprising but interesting... I have absolutely no idea what to make of any of this.
NEW DOCTOR WHO SERIES :
Ep 1: Space Babies ! Sweet message of acceptance and love, fart jokes
Ep2: Colourful outfits, fun high energy villain, funny music

Staying on Theme | Lament of Heaven's Night
The eighth video of Staying on Theme, my series on analyzing music in storytelling (and storytelling in music), is LIVE! In this video, we explore Heaven’s Night and its accompanying soundtrack, “Lament of Heaven’s Night.” I talk about how we continue to explore Maria’s character through the Dorian mode and Akira Yamaoka’s use of the tritone, aka “The Devil’s Chord.”
These videos are clipped from my full spoiler/music commentary playthrough of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which you can watch on YouTube HERE. Tune into the stream on Twitch every other Wednesday at 7PM Eastern, and expect a new episode of Staying on Theme every Monday!
Last stream was the finale, but there’s still more music to talk about! THIS WEDNESDAY, 10/1, I’ll be hopping on twitch.tv/idoherty451 at 7PM Eastern to talk about each of the endings I haven’t streamed yet and jam out to the rock songs that play over the credits. Come hang with us, and let me know if you have any questions about the game, the music–whatever comes to mind!
I love the fact that it's canon in Doctor Who that the Beatles banished an eldrich god together

I mean, the whole premise of this episode fails because the 'My dog Fred' song is the most amazing thing I've ever heard
Every time 15th says Honey~
I think about the Honey in wolf
Then Figaro appears in the devil's chord
Happy 5.20!(Means I love you in Chinese)
Honey:Call me Master!
Devil's Chord had such interesting concepts, but the execution fell really flat for me. The idea of music being vital to human existence, yet the embodiment of music being a villain, the Pantheon becoming major players (!!!!!!), ahhhhh it's so good! I want all the eldritch old-god extradimensional weirdness and I'm so excited to see what they do with it. And it's rather nice to see the Doctor legitimately confused and scared by a villain who works outside the rules he knows, after so many seasons of him seeming to know everything.
On the other hand, I really didn't buy the Maestro as a threat. They were so over the top that they came across as a caricature instead of a real villain. The Toymaker had moments of seriousness and a sinister edge even during his more silly moments that made him seem like a legitimate threat, but Maestro was just pure melodrama, with only a few tiny hints of gravitas. Music incarnate should be way more nuanced and layered than that.
The music battle fell kind of flat too. Idk what was going on with the choices of music, but I couldn't really tell what was supposed to be happening, how the bits of tunes were supposed to cancel or outdo each other. Ruby and the Doctor getting slurped into instruments was silly and too reminiscent of Mickey getting eaten by the bin. Maestro might make a really good Big Finish villain, but trying to visually represent the powers of an audio-based character was...eh. Didn't work well imo.
I am excited by the hints that Ruby isn't human though. The DNA scan that we didn't get to see the results of, the snow appearing out of nowhere again, Maestro being unable to work out the songs in her heart...I really really hope she's some sort of alien!
Final impression: cool concepts, intriguing setup, not very enjoyable execution. I kind of want to rewrite the episode.
