summary: Who better to partner the Heartbreak Devil with than the only seasoned Devil Hunter who cries for his colleagues when they die?

notes: no idea how often I’ll be updating these hcs, especially since the thirst for Aki content seems so small that this might just be howling into the void. hopefully that changes when the Chainsaw Man anime eventually comes out. but enjoy this for now!

💔 As the Heartbreak Devil, you feed off the heartbreak of others -- the more heartbroken someone is, the stronger you get. So, it only makes sense that once they have you collared like a dog, they make you a Public Safety Devil Hunter. Because where else is there such a readily available source of heartbreak for you to feed off of?

💔 But while you can feed off all heartbreak, certain types of heartbreak just taste better than others. And the most delicious type of heartbreak is the romantic kind. So, in Special Division 1 where you’ve been placed, you pick up a bit of a bad habit. You use sweet words and even sweeter sexual favors to seduce new recruits until they grow attached before breaking their hearts and feasting on their misery to your own heart’s content, leaving a trail of heartbroken recruit after heartbroken recruit in your wake. 

💔 Eventually, the headache your antics cause becomes so big that not even Kishibe -- who has a soft spot for you that he’ll never admit to -- can protect you from the wrath of those higher up the chain of command. But you're too valuable of a chess piece for them to execute, especially when your offense is relatively minor in comparison to what other Devils and Fiends have done before in Public Safety. 

💔 A decision is made, by whom you don’t know, to stick you in Special Division 4, where you can be partnered with the only seasoned Devil Hunter who still feels so much heartbreak when his colleagues die that he cries for each and every one of them. 

💔 When Aki learns that his new partner isn’t even a Fiend, but a Devil, he’s furious. He protests and files complaints, insisting that a Devil can never be trusted to put down other Devils. And when he learns who you are and why exactly you’re being transferred, his anger only grows. But then one day he receives a call from Makima who asks him to do her this favor and his protests immediately stop.
