this is probably one of the more sentimental pieces I’ve ever made of Aria, and as much as she’s a smutty character for me she also represents the confliction inside of me that’s my deep admiration for holy figures, and my rebellion against particular religious ideas today. I wanted to create something akin to the old religious paintings but I guess with my style that’s kinda hard to pull off huh? More than just inversion or blasphemy, Aria is a chance to mock and replace those values with a love of the flesh, and a sovereignty of the will. it was also super heavily inspired by the album The Void by Sidewalks and Skeletons, one of my favorite electronic artists. I dont think I’m ever happier than when I get to draw Aria. Being lewd, or more somber like this. I hope when you see her from now on you’ll get a sense of how much she means to me artistically. More than just another chance to see some big anime tiddies, Aria means something for me: Grace, carnality, devotion. All while walking your own path.
