It’s the only explanation, complete with stubborn expression ( still soft around the edges, at least when it’s regarding the lieutenant ), that Hank receives to the sudden, shocked attention given to the android. There he was, reminiscing about better (earlier? they used to be synonymous, but these days he almost feels as if they may not be exclusively so) times, minding his own business, when he finds two, thin arms threading underneath his in an effort to capture him in a hug from behind. A surprise attack. Dirty move, Connor.
He’s not wrong, though, even if the words will never leave Hank’s lips in the light of day. In the middle of the night, after a few shots of whiskey and a couple of beers, perhaps, but not out here in public where anyone might hear. The acceptance is in the lack of aggressive cursing and forceful removal of the arms; in the soft, hidden smile– save for one edge of upturned lips, revealed when his neck half-turns to give him a visual on the other man– and the raising of one, larger hand to fall gently upon the synthetic pair joined around his belly. They’re given a single squeeze of appreciation before the contact is broken to allow his arm to return to his side.
