Hello! I was wondering what the studio's reason for not allowing people to stream the full game AT ALL is. Wouldn't most indie studios jump at the chance for more people to discover their game through the free publicity? This isn't meant to change your mind but simply to try and understand the decision! c:
Hi! Free publicity doesn’t pay the bills for the indie developers, does it? If you stream the full game on your channel, why would people bother buying it and playing it for themselves? It’s not like VNs are RPGs that can be played for hours on end with different options and paths each time, they are more like movie tickets or interactive books, a one-and-done type of deal for most. So the free exposure you speak of is more like giving a streamer new content to earn revenue on, no?
Otherwise, streaming only the demo (with commentary at that) is something we are perfectly fine with, especially since we decided to make our demos longer so that people can check them out directly before deciding for themselves if they are enjoying them and want to spent their hard earned money on the full thing or not. We also set the price as low as we can after considering the fees we pay and the work hours we put in, run giveaways and sales for those who can’t afford the full price, so we think that we’re being fair on our part.
