A Light On The Dash, October Forever (2021 Short Film)
Halloween night in Queens, New York. A film the four of us (Aniza, Chris, Ali and I) made together in a week's time....I wish they could all be this quick to produce - it was unfussy and we left a good bit up to chance or just let the conditions fall where they did because we had no other choice; I always love the limitation more than trying to recklessly shoehorn some written concept into being and exhausting everybody and calling it "vision." Or even worse, not making anything at all. That said I think it takes striking a nice balance between planning and then using what's in front of us and is possible. We don't have any money and if we did I don't know if we'd be trying to tell stories...who knows
the means by which these movies are produced I hope can become faster and lighter for younger people so we can all learn a craft that has forever been limited in its reach/accessibility of its camera technology. It's only one pass on the grade and a couple hours on the titles and the foley Gio and I recorded on his Nagra and our iPhones right outside. I learned ableton just to mix it, lol. It's still not great - It's just using what's there and I love it for that - a quick one for practice. Chiseling away at what's concealing this world that exists and runs parallel to the one we know
If there was more time I don't know what we'd change other than tightening up some costuming and it doesn't even matter - just wanted to get it out by the 31st which we did - on IG lol
love
