She’s Got You High // Mumm-Ra

Having an inappropriate relationship with your best friend’s dad was totally fucking wrong.

Beyond wrong.

And yet, Annie was crawling out of his bed, cheeks redder than her hair. She heard shifting, but the girl had already started putting on her clothes.

"What’s the hurry?"

Jesus Christ in a handbasket.

"Uh — I thought I heard the front door."

What a suck ass excuse to make to a werewolf.

He merely smirked, eyes still closed as her merely listened to her move around.

"Nobody came home, Annie. You’re being paranoid."

His voice was so smooth and so persuasive that the girl sighed, nibbling on her lip. She was quiet still, merely watching his half asleep figure.

"Come back to bed. Please?"

A smile grew on her lips, and Annie rolled her eyes before quietly slipping back underneath the covers.

"If I didn’t know any better, I would say that you’re addicted," she teased lightly, placing a lingering kiss on his lips.

Aichmophobia - fear of needles

"You see this needle?" He remembers, the doctor standing next to him with a gentle hand on his shoulder and a kind look in his eyes. "We're going to put it in your mom, alright? And it's gonna help her get better."

The IV drip scared him, with it's sharp end and clear tube, but he says nothing, just nods and continues to hope for his mother's recovery.

The needle doesn't work, and all he sees is just her getting worse and worse and worse until she's gone entirely. He's terrified of them from that point on, petrified of the points that threaten to fill his bloodstream with something he doesn't know, the sharpness of the metal that pricks into his flesh and sends pain through his body.

     You’re lucky, you know. To have gotten a second chance. I don’t know how you did it— you definitely don’t deserve it— but somehow, you did. You can make a better life for yourself, start over with a clean slate. You’ve killed people and you’ve gotten what I’ve been trying to get for months. We all have. But we can’t forget all that’s happened; before you, because of you. There’s no room to start over when people like you keep strolling into this place every time we finally think we’ve found peace. And now, we never will. We’re a beacon.

    I’ll never forgive you. Adopt a puppy, become a librarian— whatever you do with this second chance, however you reinvent yourself— I never will.

     I just wanted to make that clear.

     She envies him. Because he can take and take, and people will fear him and obey him, and he has power, something she may have had once, but now seems to be slipping through her fingers. And when he falls from that mighty throne of his, onto his knees with his head on the chopping block, he’ll still come out with not even a scratch.

     It’s not fair. Life isn’t fair, she has to remind herself— but this makes her feel particularly scorned.
