“ and you want me to believe you had nothing to do with it?” (from the L man)

✞ – for how briefly they have known one another, this is song - and - dance is starting to become extremely redundant. misa is sick and tired of ryuzaki – she is tired of his bland expressions, his hunching shoulders, the way he always seems to speak to her in a tone of mild, condescending disdain. she is tired of living in his stupid building; tired of him getting in the way of her relationship with light; tired of being accused of killing people – which, like, get real, ryuzaki.
the problem is that he is totally unfazed by her. when she tries to be charming, he never falls for it, and when she gets angry, he always makes sure to leave her looking like the crazy, immature, unreasonable one. like, if he was going to keep her cooped up here and be weird about her boyfriend and generally behave like an ass, he could at least have the common courtesy to like her a little bit. ugh.
and so, because she’s bored and has nothing else to do, misa does what any nineteen - year - old girl would do in her situation. she picks fights.
all this to say that there is a feverish electricity, a child-like anger, rolling off of her as she stands beneath him, much too close to be appropriate, his horrific posture allowing them to stand very close to nose - to - nose. when misa, stubborn in the way only a spoiled girl can be, invades his space, ryuzaki only ever manages to blink back at her, unbothered. calling her bluff. her hands are balled into little fists at her sides, and she glowers up into his own impassive countenance.
❝ that’s what i said, isn’t it? i have no idea what happened to your stupid cake, ryuzaki. misa certainly didn’t eat it. ❞
she might have thrown it away, though.
