Okay so, Keith doesn’t actually ever meet them ? It’s not really an AU but more of a… completing the story ? Keith spends a whole year alone and no one says what happens ? 

Times Keith almost met the others but didn’t : 

When he met Rosa, spent the whole afternoon with her, learned about her cousin, a cool dude about the same age as him, and left. Twenty minutes later, the cousin showed up, all smug because he just got promoted to the pilots classes at the Garrison. 

That one time he got dragged by a guy with blue glowing facepaint in a club. 

The one time he needed to repair the radio and actually realized these were very… long range radios, and he spent the afternoon looking in supplies stores and electronic secret stashs and almost asked a kid for help

Once he bumped into a huge guy, but he had the googles full of dust and couldn’t find him again. He still has his screwdriver

He’s pretty sure someone bet for him once at the underground box club and he didn’t know them, but he can’t tell wether or not there face was familiar through tears and blood and sweat
