As a blogger, the school election is significantly important to me. I’ve basically been planning for this day since last year’s election. Democracy survives when we defend the right to vote, the right to speak, and the right to dissent. September 15, International Day of Democracy—government of the people, by the people, for the people.

India, the world’s largest democracy: 900 million voters, ballots not bullets. But today, dissent is silenced, activists jailed, opposition leaders imprisoned. Governments fall to backroom deals. Even the Election Commission faces bias—vanishing names, duplicate IDs, blocked voters, sudden turnout spikes.

These are not errors, they undermine trust. This Democracy Day is a commitment—to protect our vote, our voice, and our right to dissent.

Wishing every citizen a very Happy International Democracy Day. Democracy is a journey, not a destination. It is a journey of sacrifices, patience and loosing to getting the right to speak, act and the courage to keep the journey of Democracy continue. From the years of silence to the years of sparkling out, celebrate the day like never before.
