First Time - Johnathan “Dells” Dellamonica
a/n: the ending sucks, but what’s new? i can never figure out how to end fics lol
•••
It was a nice summer day, so Dells decided to take you out on a date to the field he plays at. You two have been seeing each other for a while now, two and a half months or so, having met two months before you started dating, and things were slowly becoming more and more serious.
“What are we doing here?” You wonder as Dells parks the car and reaches into the backseat for something. He retrieves a catcher’s mitt, a bat, and baseball.
“We’re gonna play some ball,” he says happily. You get out of the car and follow him to the field. He hands you the bat, pressing a single kiss to your cheek before running off to the pitcher’s mound.
“You better go easy on me, Dells! I’m not as fast and strong as the people you play,” you yell to him. He laughs and shakes his head, getting ready to throw the first pitch. Thankfully, he throws it slow enough and you actually make contact with it, hitting it straight towards him. He catches it with ease and gives you a thumbs up.
Picnic Gone Bad - Johnathan “Dells” Dellamonica
a/n: once again, this is bad 😂
•••
“Come with me, it’ll be fun!” Dells begs you through the phone. He had to go to some picnic that the d-backs were having, with all the guys and family members. You had yet to meet anyone on his team, aside from Ty, because they’re brothers and all.
“I'm not family, though!” You say, not really feeling up to go to some picnic filled with people you don’t know.
“So? Fotch is bringing his wife, Garvey’s bringing his girlfriend, Barone’s girlfriend is coming. It’s not just family, babe.” A defeated sigh leaves your lips, shaking your head.
“I still don’t know, J. Maybe give me some time to think it over.”
“That’s fair. Are you still coming over later tonight for our movie night?” He asks, changing the topic after sensing that you sound a little uncomfortable.
“Yeah, I’ll be over after dinner.” And that’s the end of the conversation.
wearing his clothes - undrafted
a/n: another one :) if you have any ideas for these, send them in! i’m gonna try to do the same ones i’ve done in the past (like cuddles, first times, proposals, etc)
•••
maz
- you spent the night with maz the day before he had a game. but he had to be there early, at around seven in the morning for practice, so he left you sleeping, knowing that you’d be there later on.
around ten, you are dressed and ready to go. but something catches your eye before you leave maz’s room: his extra jersey. reaching for it, you make sure it doesn’t smell, and thankfully, it’s clean. so, you slide it onto your shoulders, leaving it unbuttoned to show your black tank top underneath.
the girlfriends of the guys on the team each had their own jerseys with their partner’s name and number on it, just to show support for the ones they love, but you never had the chance to get one, since you and maz met after the season started.
“nice jersey!” barone’s girlfriend says as you approach the bleachers. she’s wearing her own d-backs jersey with barone’s number on it as well.
“i stole maz’s extra jersey, technically i don’t have one.”
“you don’t have one yet. you’ll get one next season, most definitely.”
you pay attention to the game, clapping for maz when he gets up to bat. he hears your cheers right away and smiles when he sees that you’re here. he notices that you’re wearing something bright red, but he can’t make out what it is from that far away.
once the game is over, he runs right over to you, after gathering his things. that’s when he finally sees the jersey. a huge smile slowly spreads across his lips.
“well, what is this, huh?” he teases, wrapping his arms around your waist, looking down at the jersey on your body.
“just thought i would support my amazing boyfriend. i found it as i was leaving, it was clean, so i chose to wear it.”
“you look so fucking cute in it, i can’t explain.”
“is it because it’s yours, or just the fact that i look good in jerseys?” you tease. he chuckles and kisses you sweetly.
“little bit of both. mainly because it has my name and number on the back, so people know that you’re my girlfriend.”
“and proud of it. nice home run earlier.”
“i heard you cheering for me, don’t worry.” you giggle as maz continues to stare at your body, loving how his clothes look on you.
“what do you say we head back to my place and you can show me how much you love me in this jersey?” you wink and smirk slyly.
“only if you’ll wear this and only this?” his voice lowers so no one else can hear. your heart quickens and excitement flows through you.
“deal.”
dells
- dells’ parents were having some fancy dinner with a couple of their friends, and they also invited you. so, you dressed in a nice, simple yet classy white dress. you knew it was a risk, since there was going to be wine, but you figured you would be fine, for the most part.
but of course, the worst happens.
you and dells were having a conversation during dinner at the table. but, someone asked dells to pass the bottle of wine in front of him. not paying much attention, his arm knocks your wine glass over and spills it all over the table and your dress.
gasping, you stand and try to wipe it away immediately, but you knew it was no use.
“shit, babe! i am so sorry!” dells shouts, also trying to get rid of the stain.
“johnathan, it’s not going to come out,” his mother says, rubbing your back comfortingly.
“come here,” he sighs, grabbing your hand and dragging you upstairs. you can tell he feels bad, but you weren’t upset; it was your own fault for wearing a daring color around red wine.
“here,” he throws you a ratty old t-shirt, “i’ll take your dress and try to get the stain out.” you slip your dress off and pull his shirt on, leaving you pantsless for the time being.
“dells, it’s fine. the dress is ruined, i don’t care,” you say as you hand him the item.
“i feel awful. this is a huge stain,” he groans, taking a seat on the bed.
“don’t be. i should have worn something else. dinner parties always include spilled wine, so it was a disaster waiting to happen.” he chuckles as you sit next to him.
“to make you feel better, you looked fucking sexy in this,” he whispers in your ear.
“too bad i can’t wear it anymore,” you whisper back, giggling at his reaction.
“i’m gonna bring our plates up so you don’t have to go back downstairs in just a ratty t-shirt,” he announces.
he returns with both of your plates, he ended up getting you a new one because of the wine that spilled onto yours, and he opted out for glasses of water this time.
“honestly, i enjoy this much more than the party downstairs,” you say after taking a bite of your food.
“me too. i get you all to myself, in my bed, in my shirt, with no pants on,” he smirks, kissing your lips cheekily.
“did you happen to spill the wine on purpose?” you wonder, teasing him even more.
“you know i didn’t! i hate that i ruined your dress!”
“i know, dells! i’m messing with you. i know you didn’t mean to.”
“good. but, i don’t mind that it happened.”
zapata
- you and your roommate got into a huge fight, which led to her kicking you out without allowing you to collect your stuff; you only had a chance to grab your keys and your phone. with no place to go, you drove to the only person you could trust: your friend chris.
you softly knock on his door, worried that he possibly has a girl or friends over. but to your surprise, he answers right away, dressed in lazy clothes.
“what’s up, (y/n)? it’s close to midnight.”
“do you mind if i stay here for a couple days?” you shyly ask. chris’s eyes soften and he nods, stepping aside to let you in.
“do you want to tell me what happened?” he asks, bringing you to the couch. you nod and begin to tell him all about the fight that you and your friend got into, leading to her kicking you out for good.
“you are more than welcome to stay here for as long as you like,” he says, grabbing your hand.
“thank you. i hate to be a bother, but i have nowhere else to go.”
“you’re not a bother, hun. it’s okay. i don’t want you sleeping on the streets.”
“i could drive back home, four hours away.”
“no no, don’t do that. i want you here.” his voice is so caring and sweet, you can’t help but see him in a different way, a more loving way.
“thanks again. um, i hate to ask, but can i borrow some clothes to sleep in? she kicked me out before i could even grab any of my stuff.”
“yeah, come here.” he guides you upstairs and into his room, which was surprisingly cleaner than usual.
“you want a pair of sweat or shorts?” he asks.
“sweats, please.” he picks out a t-shirt and pants, then leaves the room so you can change.
“do you have an extra cover and pillow? you ask once chris comes back in.
“for what?” he sounds confused.
“for the couch?”
“no, you take my bed.”
“zap, i’m fine on-”
“i’m not gonna allow it, nuh uh. you’ve gone through a lot in the past few hours, there’s no way you’re sleeping on that small ass couch.” you’re too tired to fight back so you crawl under the covers.
“you can sleep here as well, chris,” you tell him, patting the bed for him to join you. he smiles and joins you. as soon as he settles in, you cuddle up right next to him.
“thank you for letting me stay,” you murmur, nuzzling your face in his neck. he laughs quietly and slides his hand around your waist, under his shirt.
“i think you look absolutely adorable in my shirt,” he whispers, “and i’d love to see you in them more in the future.”
“what are you saying, zap?” he hesitates for a few minutes, his hands shaking against your skin.
“i want you to be my girlfriend.”
innocent stares - undrafted
a/n: as i said, i know that my undrafted fics aren’t that popular and that the fandom is kinda dead, but i really like writing for them :) especially maz, aaron is so fucking adorable ugh. also let me know if you’d like me to include palacco and barone in future ones :)
•••
maz
- you were finally in your new home after an amazing honeymoon with your new husband, john. the feeling of being married was so amazing, knowing that you two were going to be together for the rest of your lives.
you spent the first day sleeping off the jet lag, cuddled up in bed. you two woke up right before dinner.
“maz?” you quietly call out. he groans and slowly starts to wake up, his eyes batting open. he smiles sweetly and pulls you closer.
“hm?”
“can we make some dinner? i haven’t eaten since we got home.”
“yeah. just five more minutes.” so, you lay there for just a little bit longer before you get up and head downstairs.
you decide to make some pasta with chicken and veggies so you get started on prepping the veggies while maz starts the pasta and chicken. once everything is ready, you stand off to the side as maz stirs the pasta in the boiling water.
you lean against the counter and watch your husband work, staring for maybe a little too long. he turns around and catches your gaze, smirking when he realizes what you were doing.
“take a picture, babe,” he jokes. you blush and look away from him, embarrassed.
“don’t be shy, baby.”
“i just couldn’t help but come to terms with the fact that this is my life now. waking up with you, making dinner together, everything.”
“it’s the same kind of stuff that we were doing while living together, before we got married,” he says, turning back around.
“i know,” you move to hug him from behind, resting your head between his shoulders. “but we’re married now. it feels different, a good different.” he chuckles and turns around, wrapping you in his arms.
“i get what you’re saying. it does feel nice, doesn’t it?” he presses a kiss to your forehead and sways you side to side.
“i love you, mrs. mazetti.”
dells
- dells invited you over for his family’s usual friday movie night. they were watching one of your favorite movies, so he thought why not invite you, seeing as his family loved you a lot anyways.
“hey,” he greets you with a kiss when you arrive, letting you in. “we’re just about to start, my mom is finishing up the popcorn.” you take a seat on the empty couch, saying hello to ty, who was on the floor, leaning against the couch. dells sat down next to you and pulled you close to him.
“oh, hi (y/n), i didn’t hear you come in,” dells’ mom says as she steps into the living room.
“hi, nice to see you again, mrs. dellamonica. thanks for letting me come over.”
“it’s no problem. johnathan mentioned that this is your favorite movie, so there was no question. plus you’re always welcome anytime.” dells’ mom and dad settle into their respective recliners, which left one person missing: his four year old sister.
“ty, go get lily and bring her down here. i told her we would be ready soon, but she wanted to play with her barbies.” ty stands and walks down the hall to his sister’s room. he comes back moments later with the young girl trailing behind him.
“(y/n)!” she screams out, jumping onto the couch in the open spot next to you.
“hi lily! how are you?”
“good. are you watching the movie with us?”
“i am. johnathan invited me over.” she cheers a little then settles down beside you.
dells throws his arm around you a few minutes into the movie, making you shuffle a little bit closer to you. but, before you can move, lily cuddles up next to you, shocking you just a bit. she’s never been so affectionate with you, as much as she likes you.
dells notices you jump and looks down at you, right away seeing that his sister was snuggling into you. he smiles to himself and plays it off as if he didn’t see.
halfway through the film, she falls asleep. you tell johnathan and he can’t help but feel his heart soar at the sight. he ends up staring down at you two for a large portion of the film.
towards the end, you look up at him, only to find him still staring at you.
“what?” you wonder. he shakes his head, a small smile on his lips.
“nothing. just admiring you.”
zapata
- your friend dragged you to her boyfriend’s baseball game in the middle of a hot summer day. you two were hanging out at a cafe nearby when she remembered that she promised him she would be there. so, because she was your ride, you had to go with her.
the game was well underway by the time you got there, and as soon as you did, she ran right to the fence to see her boyfriend. they were currently batting, so he had the chance to come and say hi.
you, on the other hand, went to the other side of the field and began checking out the other team, dressed in red uniforms. you look from the pitcher, to the first baseman, to the shortstop, but your eyes eventually land on the second baseman. even from far away, you could tell that he was attractive.
your eyes seemed to linger on him, unable to look away from him. you noticed he had tattoos on the back of his arms, which only made him more attractive. as they run in after striking out the batter, he catches you staring and points right at you, waving a little.
every time the opposing team is on the field, you watch the second baseman, and he cheekily watches you when the time comes. your friend eventually leaves her boyfriend and finds you.
“so this is where you ran off to,” she says, stopping right next to you.
“yeah. i wasn’t interested in hearing you and your boyfriend be all lovey with one another,” you say. she chuckles and shakes her head, looking out to the field.
“you need a boyfriend, bad, (y/n).”
“tell me about it.”
when the game ends, you stay in the same spot as your friend goes to find her boyfriend once again. to your surprise, the guy you were staring at earlier appears in front of you, a smirk on his face.
“so, you come to baseball games and stare at the players often?” he wonders jokingly. you giggle and look down, hiding your heated cheeks from him.
“no. sorry if i made you feel uncomfortable, i just-”
“you didn’t, don’t worry,” he interrupts. “i was just surprised to see such a cute girl all alone.”
“my friend dragged me here. her boyfriend is on the other team, and i didn’t want to stand with them, being a third wheel, so i wandered off.”
“well, since you did stare at me the entire game,” he continues to mess with you, “would you like to go out sometime?” you’re taken aback and shocked that he asked you out right away.
“how do you know i’m not some creep?” you joke. he laughs loudly, his head tilting back.
“there’s always that possibility, but i doubt such a cute girl like you would be weird.”
“you’ll just have to find out on our date.”

Disappointed - Johnathan “Dells” Dellamonica
a/n: this isn’t exactly what i wanted it to be, but whatever 🙂 it’s the first thing i’ve written in a week, so it’s a little rough. also the ending sucks bc i didn’t know how to end it. and the title. i spent 10 minutes trying to think of one and literally couldn’t. so it sucks
•••
It’s been a tough year for Dells. He blew the conference playoffs during college, eliminating their team right then and there, so he was obviously very nervous to be getting back after the season ended.
His summer league team just started, which he’s done for a few years already, but this season was different; he was terrified of being humiliated again.
“I don’t want to go,” Dells complains as you lay in bed together in the morning. Dells had his arms wrapped around you tightly, not planning on moving anytime soon, even though he needs to leave in a little while.
“You have to, babe. Ty’s gonna force you to go anyways, and you know what he’s like when he’s mad.” Dells groans and snuggles closer to you, making you smile. He’s always so cuddly and soft in the morning and at night, it’s your favorite.
“But I don’t want to,” he continues.
“Johnathan, get up. You’re going to be late.”
“Will you come with me?” He begs.
“If I say yes will you actually go and have fun while playing?”
“I’ll go, but I can’t promise that I’m going to have fun,” he offers. You shake your head and sit up, making his arms fall onto the bed, where your body just was.
“I’m gonna get up and shower, then we can leave.”
“How about we stay here for a few more minutes, not shower, then get ready? It’s gonna be hot, so why shower and get all nice and dressed up only to sweat like a pig?”
“Pigs don’t sweat,” you reply cheekily. Johnathan laughs and sits up with you.
“You know what I meant. It just doesn’t make sense to shower then go and sit out in the summer heat and sweat, only to come home and shower again.”
“Fine, you make a good point.” Johnathan makes some sort of noise and pulls you back into his arms, flopping back down onto the bed.
“Just a few more minutes,” he whispers.
hugs - undrafted
a/n: ik i said i wasn’t planning on finishing these, but i was feeling soft, so this is the final one 😂 also happy undrafted day!!!
•••
maz
- the d-backs were playing in the regionals of their summer league in maryland, all thanks to your boyfriend, and he of course invited you to come along. the game was going great, the guys were all playing the best they could.
it was the final inning, the bases were loaded, the d-backs were winning by just one. maz was up to bat now, and you had a feeling that he was going to get the game-winning hit. his dad sat next to you, rubbing your back comfortingly when he noticed how tense you were.
“he’ll get a hit,” he tells you, “he always does.”
“don’t jinx it, joey,” you joke. you can’t help but look away from the game, averting your eyes down to the ground.
“just tell me when it’s over.” as soon as you finish talking, you hear a crack and the crowd begin to cheer. looking up, you see maz running right to first, sending barone home, following with murray and ty. maz stops at second and the crowd goes wild.
the guys gather at home base and jump around, screaming and yelling with energy and joy.
“go get your boy, he’s looking for you,” joey says, pointing to maz who stood on the field, scanning the crowd. grinning, you jump from your spot and make your way to your boyfriend. he meets you halfway by running, scooping you in his arms once you reach each other.
“holy shit! that was an amazing game!” you yell as he spins you around, holding onto you tightly. he sets you down after a little bit, but still keeps his arms around you, swaying side to side.
“you’re all sweaty,” you mumble against his chest. “and covered in dirt.” a chuckle rumbles through his chest and his grip gets a bit tighter.
“you love me, no matter what,” he says against your forehead.
“i do. even when you’re all sweaty and gross.” you both laugh and finally you pull away from his grasp, though he STILL keeps you close, leaving his hands on your hips.
“i love you too,” he caresses your cheek while staring into your eyes. you glance behind him and see the entire team watching you two and waiting for maz.
“i think you better go to them, they’re waiting,” you tell him. he turns around and waves them off before looking back at you.
“they can wait a few more minutes while i make out with my girlfriend.”
dells
- it was no secret that dells gets really upset when the team loses a game. he’s a pitcher after all, so if he’s giving up runs with bad pitches, he’s of course going to blame himself. and that’s what happened last night.
he started to choke up towards the end of the game, but ty wouldn’t take him out, he couldn’t; the closer for the team was out with an injury, and no one else warmed up to pitch. so, he was stuck with pitching the entire game, and nothing was working to help him throw strikes.
they of course lose, bad, and as expected, dells was tough on himself. you spent the night with him to comfort him and let him know that it’s okay to lose sometimes. you knew there was no use in telling him that it’s not his fault, he wasn’t going to believe you.
the following morning, you wake up before him, letting him sleep in just a little longer. you remove yourself from his grip and make your way downstairs, starting to make some eggs, hash browns, and pancakes.
you finish the eggs quickly and move onto the pancakes while the hash browns cook on another burner. as you’re waiting to flip the pancake you were working on, hands wrap around your waist and lock around you, pulling you close.
“hey,” dells whispers in your ear. he presses a couple kisses to your neck and tightens his grip just a little bit more.
“you sleep well?” you ask, turning around after finishing the pancake. dells nods and stares down at you. his hands sneak under your shirt and rest on your bare waist, rubbing his thumb back and forth.
“yeah. thanks for letting me sleep in. last night was…” he can’t even finish his sentence, but you understand.
“i know, babe. it’ll be okay.” you reach up and caress his cheek. he leans into your touch and smiles softly, for the first time since yesterday.
“thank you for last night,” his voice drops, sadness still evident in it. “seriously, i feel like i would’ve punched my wall if you weren’t here.” a small chuckles escapes your lips, but you know he’s one hundred percent serious.
“it’s the least i can do. i hate when you’re sad and blaming yourself. you’re an amazing pitcher and just because you lose a game here and there doesn’t mean you’re bad. you can’t be blamed for getting tired.” he smiles once more and leans down to kiss you.
“i love you so much.”
zapata
- chris had basically piles of homework for classes, a few projects and presentations to work on, and on top of that, baseball practice and games. there was no doubt that he was stressed.
and, as if he wasn’t too overworked enough, he got in a fight with his mom over you. she didn’t like you very much for some reason. you met her for the first time over the weekend, chris invited you over for dinner with him and his family. but after you left, his mom voiced some...worries she had about you.
on the night that she was working the night shift at the hospital she is a nurse at, chris invited you to spend the night, as she would be gone until the following night and you two didn’t have to cross paths.
you were sitting on chris’s bed while he sat at his desk, hunched over, working on one of his presentations for next week.
“chris, why don’t you come lay with me and take a break?” you say, seeing how tense his shoulders are.
“i can’t take a break until i have at least half of this presentation done,” he replies in a monotone voice.
“you’re really stressed and it’s not good for you. you’re going to overwork yourself and it’s not going to end well.” still, he doesn’t listen. and just as you said, it happened.
it was now nearing eleven at night and chris was still working on things. you could see that he was starting to shake from anxiety and nerves, so that’s when you stepped in.
“okay, you need to take a break, zap. i’m serious.”
“no! i need to finish this!”
“christopher!” that’s when he finally breaks. he stands and falls into your arms, sobbing out loudly. you bring him over to his bed and lay down, allowing him to cuddle up next to you and just cry.
“shh, it’ll be okay. you’re not going to work on anything else for the rest of the night, okay?” he nods against your shoulder, continuing to cry out.
after a while, he calms down enough to sit up and wipe his dried tears.
“there’s just so much. with all of my homework, barely any time to do it with practice and games, and my mom just being so inconsiderate, i can’t deal with it all.” you sit up with him and cup his cheeks with your hands.
“you can and you will. i’ll help you with your homework whenever you need it, i’ll be there for you after your games and practices, and as much as i don’t want to, i can somehow find a way to convince your mom that i’m not that bad.” chris smiles thankfully and leans in to kiss you.
“thanks, baby girl.”
