Just a quick reccomendation:
If anyone is looking for brushes, or frankly even if you aren’t, I cannot recommend this brush set by Deharme for photoshop (or any other programmes that can use ABR files). It’s just so good, and I needed to rant about a bit somewhere.
I mean, they won’t solve all your art problems, but they just made me very happy.
Hi! I really admire your art (and I am sure you are not hearing that compliment) for the first time but I wanted to know how do we get the ease of hand in digital paintings and most of the times I have tried I don't get the realistic effect. I have tried the way you paint in acrylics but unfortunately when it comes to digital painting, I fail. What would be your tips on this subject? Thanks! Love your work!
Hi thank you very much:) It does take time to get used to it, what really helped me is trying to play around with the pen pressure settings, depending on whether you tend to press harder with your pen or not, it does make a big difference. Then especially from the beginning I used to put the opacity of my brushes on lower settings until I found the brushes that suited me the best or tried creating my own, because even if you see other people using certain brushes, it does not mean that it’s going to be the most comfortable option for you. For the beginning though, I really love the set of deharme’s brushes (available here) they are really nicely divided into groups, just make sure to turn on/off pressure for size as required.Also I always set one button on my pen on color picker (alt) so I can blend colors easily because I remember that I used to get lots of muddy colors in my beginnings. Remember to use layers, you can be bolder in digital art and get better results since if something doesn’t work - you can just delete the layer.
Anyway, hope this somehow helps, I know it’s not an amazing advice, but it’s mostly about practice and finding what suits you, just don’t give up!
