In the world of To Belong, how much of one form's look is influenced by the other? Will a dark-haired woman be a dark brown lioness, or a blond man a yellow crow? Would a blue-eyed person have blue eyes even as a barn owl? Or does an animals natural colors dictate a human form's look? Would a man with a pronounced roman nose have a similar nose shape even as an Arabian stallion? Or are the two forms disparate and will always appear natural, even if if changes defining character traits?
This is a very fun question when regarding character design! :D Up till now, I have always imagined that some features remain the same in both forms, while others are irrelevant. For example:
Your fur color is not always a reflection of your human skin color ((Ex: You can be pale as death but still be a black dog)).
Just because you are a whale/elephant/hippo/etc in animal form does not mean that you are a heavy-set human.
Not all birds have hooked noses and not all people with hooked noses are birds.
Basically, it is really hard to just look at a person an guess their animal form. Their characteristics and movements may give themselves away though. But on the other hand, your physique does have it´s effects on both appearances. If you are muscular/skinny/heavy-set, etc as a human then those traits will be visible in your animal form too ((You can think of the human form as a base for the animal form in this case)).
Something else that I personally want to keep in is a consistent eye-color. I want people to be able to look a person in the eye and be able to recognize them that way, and eye color would play a big role in this. This is true for all the main characters, and will most likely be the case with the supporting cast too.
But could a human have the bright read eyes of a tree frog? That is something that I have yet to decide, so at this point in time there is no clear canon rule. ;)
